For me, I want a CB with our first pick and then throw the bag at Higgins or trade Chinn+ for Jameson Williams if he's available.

We also just need to be better on day 2 and 3 of the draft. Some say we overdrafted Mingo, meanwhile the shifty speedy receivers like Dell, Downs and Nacua are thriving right now.

To the OP, if there isn't a CB, TE, DT or EDGE worthy of the pick, I'd be happy with someone like Franklin, Worthy or Leggette.

My hope is that one of Wiggins, Lassiter, or Burke is there for us. Boot 26 to the curb or at the least, nickel and insurance for Horn if he remains fragile. If Horn is back, we have two lockdown CBs.

I just cant see the team going CB or TE with the first pick. They already have been trying to trade for a WR. that tells me thats their number 1 priority. We arent scoring points... defense is playing well enough for us to be in games. yes its not good.. but you have bigger issues with separation and throwing to a 32 year old wr as your number 1.

You can't have your franchise qb who is growing and learning forced to lean on a guy who is at the end of his career and can't seperate. I wish we took a tight end this past year in a deep class and we passed on Washington in the 3rd round for... this Pass rusher who isnt getting a jersey. I know we have a lot of needs But getting bryce rolling is priority number 1 given you gave up cmc moore 2 first and a second or 2.

A lot of the top receiving threats in the NFL aren't 1st round picks.

Tyreek Hill - 5th round

Davante Adams - 2nd

AJ Brown  - 2nd

Amon Ra St Brown - 4th

Keenan Allan - 3rd

Cooper Kupp - 3rd

Tee Higgins - 2nd

and you could add Puka if you wanted in the 5th based on what he's already done.

The list goes on. The one thing that makes all of these guys really special is elite separation. That's what creates a number 1, but you don't have to get them early. You do have to be able to find them though, and Fitts sucks at that. AT is on a pro bowl, possibly all pro pace right now, because even at 33, he can get open consistently.

If I had to choose between a Chase and 2 JAGs or 3 ATs, I'd take the 3 ATs because they would make it easier on the QB. 3 guys that can get open are better than 1, but that's JMO.

It’s not that simple and KC’s scoring is at the lowest level since Mahomes started. They had been scoring 28-35 ppg since 2018, averaging around 30 per game.

This year with not even a Juju to go with Kelce and they are at 24.5, almost 6 ppg less than 2018-2022.

Of course, everyone would take say 3 Tee Higgins or 3 Theilens over Chase, TMJ and Mingo but that’s not a good comparison. Chase has Higgins and Boyd. Hill had Kelce and now has Waddle. AJ Brown and Smith are together. Samuel, Aiyuk and Kittle.

What we need is not Chark, TMJ and Mingo. We need a top threat to go with Theilin. Heck, we’ve got no Bijan or CMC and we certainly don’t have a Kelce or anything resembling a TE threat.

It was all the rage in here that Young just needed a bunch of decent guys and no star and that was wrong.

Mingo looks like a i dunno a meh player.maybe a number 2. But clearly you aren't reading the tea leaves with the team already was rumored to want to trade for a number 1 wr at the trade deadline so their logic is there is a problem at wr as well. You guys see these wrs cant seperate and are like oh draft a corner it will workout.

WR's tend to break out in their second year. Let's see if Mingo can be a 1 before we use our first pick on a WR.  Part of Bryce's problem is also this oline.

I didnt love the Mingo pick. He fit a big need and the physical tools and upside were there, so I didn’t hate it. But I look at teams like Baltimore, Pitt, or Philly lately and it feels like they’re always stacking talent and taking guys who have slid.

To me that’s the approach we should be taking more than committing to one position. Still ave hope that Mingo can put it together tho.

My hope this year with a lot of QBs potentially going early in the draft that we can find someone who slides

EvenIfyou believe that you see flashes year 1.. big plays splash plays or crazy catches... mingo..  he doesnt flash such as DK metcalf did who he was compared 2. He looks more like how jerry jeudy looks. consistently average. maybe a number 3?

I have to admit I am an Ole Miss fan who watched just about all of these two players' games, and I was much more impressed with DK. Mingo lacked the ability to separate. I have to assume our coaching staff is much better at evaluating talent than me though. They must have seen something there.  Don't forget that DK also played with AJ Brown while Mingo did not have that kind of complimentary receiver.

    • I'm with you.  Even an extra 3rd would help.  None of the players you listed are elite though.  Sadly there are very few of those in this draft, but there are a lot of good players in the late first and into the second. We need to realize that we can't get all our needs in this year's draft.  We know we need some sort of edge, a safety, and I feel we need to use one of first 4 picks on a CB, preferably 3rd at latest.  And I want to draft an OT in 3rd to learn behind Moton this year. The extra 2nd would be huge.  2 things Bear Hands has noted in other threads, we can get a rusher in the mid rounds of the first, and if a good LT is available at our pick we should be able to get a deal. I'm ok.  If the media takes are close, trading back to around 15 should get us a second, and since our second is near the end of that round, getting one earlier opens up a whole lot of opportunities.  Either way, Canales builds his infrastructure with this draft.  Next year, with all our picks and probably picking somewhere between 10 and 15, we can get real stars.   All of this depends on hitting on picks this year.
    • You got the gist of his main issue. He plays LB or whatever on D, but hates to tackle and contact. That's the summary.  I normally have a wide margin of " Hey vet min/bring him for try out/maybe he changed/etc etc". But he can not be trusted, * but he did just have his "best" season. He's like those RB that refuse to run between the tackles, bounce everything outside...they too are scared of contact. That's like the whole point of NFL, he's able to trick and athlete his way for 5 years, props to him and his agent.  Me personally I view him like virus, I wouldn't want him on film shying away from hitting while the rookies&UDFA are looking for how the Panthers do things. Plus Im the biggest sucker there is about giving former 1st, 2nd, etc another chances. Just not someone who doesn't want to play NFL and fools those with his god given gifts.  ____________________________________________________________   \ Not to add another layer to this, but I feel contact and hitting its the biggest problem for the NFL. I sorta agree with TEs, WRs, and RBs either going out of bounds or falling to the ground to avoid a solid hit(this goes out the window for 1st downs, SB, etc.) Like if a WR caught a deep slant and already gained 17 yards, but here comes a safety with a great angle, Im all for that WR to fall on the ground...... ugh...... But I think the opposite for my defense. I feel this topic is central sun hot and NFL has done a great job in avoiding it. Im surprised NFL is still allowed, I have huge doubts in the future.
    • not sure if carolina picks a WR in this draft, they have some young WR already and will let them develop. Need another vet imo.  I think carolina is going to pass more to the RB's this coming season, look for them to move heaven and earth for Cam Skatteboo.  I really hope they go TE Warren in the 1st. That would add another dynamic to this offense.
