Let the John Fox Naysayers suckit

With all the talk the last couple days about coaches getting fire, I listen to what people think of as the criteria for a successful coach and Fox has everything people talk about. He didn't mess around trying to find that perfect QB, he found Jake early and has stuck with him despite his inconsistencies. He has a rigid formula for building a team and sticks with it. He doesn't get seduced by flashy talent and sticks with solid, consistent players over players with more upside. He's drafted well and doesn't break the bank on FAs.

I also want to point out how everyone was claiming successful teams would model themselves after the Pats and their passing attack after last year. If you look at teams in the playoffs this year only the Colts and Cards are passing teams. All the top seeds run the ball well and play good defense.

good post, but ya know the very next loss will make Fox the bum of the year:o. i like fox, definitely better than most other coaches in the nfl.

Bandwagons are for losers.

Pick a position and stick to it, unless the facts change.

They haven't.

Fox's style depends too much on "LUCK" for success. We got lucky a lot in 2003, which is why so many games were decided on last second field goals or the other team screwing up.

It always seems to come down to "INCHES" with John Fox.

Steve Smith jumps one second too early against Green Bay or New Orleans this last month of the season, and the Panthers are 10-6 and out of the playoffs, in two games that would have been out of reach if the team didn't RELAX WITH A LEAD and let the other team back in it like Fox's personality dictates.

Until that changes, I'm not going to get off his case.

Don't call off the horses midway through the 3rd Quarter, or at the end of the first half like they did against Green Bay and the Giants.

Until he stops doing that, he's a fool.

Tru but we did win didnt we?? the truth of the matter is Id pick him over almost any coach nowadays excluding tony dungy, and Bill Belichick.

The only time we have ever had a losing season the most games we lost were 9.

excluding 2002 as a new year the years we had a losing record was due to injuries.

2004- 7-9 steve smith and running backs

2006-8-8 stephen davis and others

2007-7-9 quarterbacks

and any time we got into the playoffs we were atleast in the national championship game.. that has to say something bout the guy.

This is pathetic. Injuries? That is his excuse for an unmotivated team?

I mean sure, last year not having a QB hurt, but he put the team together, he went into the season with no backup QB.

Great coaches will continue to prepare their team to win. The Patriots lost an MVP and still were a playoff team in any other year. The Colts have so many issues, but they are 12-4.

Banking on being basically completely healthy every year is a terrible strategy.

Fox's biggest test isn't over yet, this thread is so incredibly premature. Yes, we did well, but we have seen years like this before. Fox has to prove that he can win next year as well. He has yet to put winning seasons back to back, and that is a big deal.

There is a lot of work to do, and honestly the team doing so well is more of a result of Steve Smith being phenomenal. Fox got the run game back, but without Smith we are 10-6 or 9-7.

I don't know what's lucky about John Fox football. His philosophy is simple: Let's run the ball, and let's play good defense.

You should get off his case because he's gotten you the number 2 seed in a competitive NFC this year.

Teams don't win 12 games by getting "lucky." You can't get lucky 12 times in the NFL. And a coach doesn't survive 7 years by being lucky. He plays hard-nosed football and we finally have the personnel to accomodate that. We've got the best line we've had in years, one of the most talented backfields in the league, an all-pro wide receiver, all-pro defensive end and one of the best young middle linebackers to come into the NFL in quite some time.

Everyone belived Carr was a good back up. We all thought it has to be Houston. So I can't hold Fox or the FO responsible for that bust.

Do you think Del Rio is a good coach? I do. And I'm not going to hold his teams injuries against the coach for a down season.

Look at NO this year, What would have the Saints been like had they been healthy? I guess we will season how Payton responses to a banged up season.

So, just like You don't bench a QB due to injury you don't fire the coach because half the team is on IR.

Fox has proved year after injury riddled year his is one of the best coaches in the league, and as long as he wants the job, I'm glad to call him the Coach of the Carolina Panthers. And I think the Richardson's feel the same way.

If, if, if, that's stupid. I'm sure there are two games we lost that could have been won "IF" something slightly different had happened. That's the way it works. It's dumb to sit around and wonder "if"
