Well, i know it's probably been talked about a lot, but I've got some questions about the superbowl that I wanted to know what yall thought.

What happened to Jake Delhomme? He was great back then.

Would the Panthers have won the game (or at least went into overtime) if kasay didn't kick it out of bounds? I believe the panthers would have.

And just a statement, the Panthers need another Ricky Proehl possession slot receiver, thats one reason they had such a big season (I think Jarrett might be able to be that receiver if given more chance). What is yalls opinion?

P.S, how do I embed a video from Youtube? I did the embedding on here but it just came up with the code.

Smith wants to be our slot reciever... So what we really want is a young number one reciever. Let smith play the slot, and if Jarrett can step up he could be the number two... but who knows if he'll do that? Thats why I think they should hang on to Moose until its resolved.

I agree, I'm just hoping Jarrett can play up to his potential. I think this is gonna be his last year, but for some reason it's like Fox doesn't wanna play him. When he plays he makes great catches, especially on 3rd down. Let him play more, thats the best way to develop a player (unless QB where it's good to sit back and watch and learn sometimes).

this argument never holds water (and it's used a LOT.) jarrett may catch balls when he's open - but how often is he actually open? he's slow as hell and up until recently he's been a terrible blocker. why would he be given a chance over moose, who's been solid for us (spectacular, even, at times)? that's why he's relegated to WR3, and since we have deangelo williams and jonathan stewart, we don't need to run much three and four wide receiver sets.

jarrett has pathetic stats for a reason.

Yes, Jarrett does have problems getting open which you think would be different since he plays with one of the best receivers at getting open (even though he was getting pretty open late in the season), but he was also inactive a lot and not because of injuries. And I definately am not saying Jarrett should start over Muhammad, well, not next year anyways. Muhammad has slowed down a bit, but he is still steady. With all this said, WR should definately be the main focus at the draft.

During that superbowl run Delhomme actually spread the ball out, now, he just locks on. Maybe it is confidence in receivers, which Moore seemed to have a lot more of this year.

It must be a personality clash

1. Jake isn't very talented so his window of being in his "prime" was very brief. He's also a lot better when he actually has 3 good WRs to throw to. At this point he's so innacurate i don't think having 5 clones of Jerry Rice would help. 2003 was him at his best, he had recievers, a running game, and a defense. We haven't been that complete in a long time. Just look at the stats of a Cowboys playoff game, it's the most perfect game I've ever seen. At this point he's so innacurate i don't think having 5 clones of Jerry Rice would help.

2. We might have been able to hold them but really both Jake and Brady became unstopable. It would have been very hard to stop them from the 20. The pats got tired as the game went on so i think we might have been able to win if we got the ball first in OT. But I really don't know. The Patriots were very good.

3. We just need another reciever period. But smith is in the slot a lot ala wes welker. I don't care who or what it is, if we find a bear that has hands put him out there. We're desperate.

2005 was Jake at his best

He was even better in 04

I agree. I think his mind just isn't the same anymore with making a lot of mistake. That or the surgery didn't help much anymore or it could be both his mentality problem & the surgery. Only Jake himself know. Shame he isn't the same like he once was with how he done a lot for us in the Superbowl & going to the Playoffs few time.

His arm does seem like it's messing him up. Look at some of the throws in the superbowl, long and accurate, but most of his mistakes now are because of just not looking off defenders. He didn't use to lock on like this which makes me think he lost confidence.

That "can't hit 5 Jerry Rice's" quote is hilarious.

If we got Cribbs somehow then him and Smitty could switch out in the slot. Anyways, I firmly believe that the receivers will be better with Moore.

You gotta factor in the time factor for the superbowl. I think there was 1:09 left when they started the drive from the 40 and the defense still held them pretty well. I think starting from the 20, the Panthers would have been able to hold Brady and the offense behind field goal range and lead it into overtime. Then it would just be whoever won the coin toss because I think whoever would have gotten the ball first would have scored.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
