Through 6 games, Panthers would lead the NFC South in following categories

1. Points scored (112)

2. Points against (186)

You  look at our board and we focus so much on offensive problems but our defense has been extremely poor

I haven't missed it, but you can't knock the brightest defensive mind in the League, apparently.  And to think we were all worried about Evero getting poached in the offseason.  He's got to rebuild his reputation after taking on this dumpster fire.

Take away the 14 points our team has scored on defense and we would be … 98 which means of all the teams to play 6 games we would have just New England and NYG below us.

thats a bit deceiving

Not really, 37, 42 and 42 point given up three of the last four games.  We've yet to hold a team under 20 points even when we were healthier on that side of the ball.  Remember, the reason the team decided the time was right to get a rookie QB is because the OL *was* better and the defensive side of the ball was pretty well set.  So about that.....

If you were to do that then you'd need to go and remove the defensive points scored by every other team so that it would be realistic, not just the Panthers.

At this point I question if you even watch the games.

Defense kept us in a lot of games. It's just the offense has been so bad that eventually the defense gets gassed. Those early games in the season we would have great field position and the offense would come away scoreless.

The defense has looked back the past few weeks though.

For sure! But our offense put up 98 points which is about 16 a game. Not good. Hopefully the play caller switch fixes that.

Every time we try to switch to a 3-4 on the fly (without properly bringing in the right personnel) we fall flat on our face.  It's not as seamless of a switch as most people think.  There's a reason teams draft defensive personnel to fit them schematically, namely LBs, edge and D-line.

We are one of 5 teams with more than one Defensive TDs. 15 teams have none.

Our offensive production is terrible. 2 TDs by the D and tons of garbage time scores.

That would still certainly make a difference at where we're at when it comes to ranking points scored for NFL teams. You can't take points away from the total and not do it for other teams. Are you going to go through and remove all the garbage time points other teams have scored as well? That doesn't make any sense lol

Tampa has also only played 5 games, so that helps

Also, crazy that the only team in the NFL that's allowed more points than us is Denver

If the Dolphins hadn’t run up the score against Denver and scored 70, we’d easily be the worst D in the league. Outside of both teams games against Miami, we’ve given up 14 more points in our other 5 than Denver has in their other 5.

Dude, we are the worst team in the league. I don’t get your attempt to put lipstick on a pig. We are one of 5 teams with multiple D TDs. The other 27 have 1 or none. Even with that, it still doesn’t matter. We are in a boat with NE, NYG and Denver, but they’ve at least won a game. The Giants have had a brutal schedule (Dallas, Miami, Buffalo and SF). Patriots at least kept the Philly and Miami games close. Denver had one horrific game but has kept every other game close. We’ve had two close games, one because we had a 99 yard interception TD and the other because of a score with 1 minute left against prevent.

Ridiculous. Defense can’t stop anyone in the run game and that has nothing to do with the offense. Getting gassed is a convenient excuse. Top defenses get it done

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
