Need A Gun But Am A First Timer

Get you a 41 mag. barrel length is up to you, try them out, see what feels good to you.

I like stainless, but go with whatever floats your boat. This is a no miss, can't go wrong gun, especially considering what you get with the gun.

It is a revolver, and wicked bad ass as the 44 almost. If you think you can handle the 44, then get it.

Considering what you say you are looking for, 41, or 44 if you can hang with it, and you will stop what ever you want....instantly. No special ammo needed.

If you like, you can go with a lever action 45-70 rifle. Shorter than most shotguns unless they are pistol grips, and guaranteed to bring down whatever you hit with it usually with just one shot...for good.

Shotguns are best for close, in home protection, unless you are very proficient with a pistol.

Just choose according to you needs, and not the glitz and glory of the gun.

Don't let someone sell you on the "coolness" of the gun.

Have fun. :cheers2:

went to the range yesterday.. was intimidated at first but it went well...rented a .357 revolver and a .40 cal glock. the revolver had a good amount of kick on it that takes getting used to. I used the glock also and my friend hadnt cleaned it in a bit. was getting jammed a lot. Im still going to go to the range a couple of more times and try some more guns. I wasnt too happy with the fact that with a revolver you only get 6 bullets, but I dont think I will have to shoot more than that if something happens to me. Thanks again for all your guys help

I'm glad you had fun at the range buddy.

But I'm sure I don't have to tell you that probably the best thing that can happen in a security situation is......nothing/boredom.

I believe prevention is key.

Most of these dirtbags choose targets of opportunity.

Don't make it easy.

A security system with clearly visible cameras. Smile, you're on camera! Signs to that effect.

Signs posted outside, premises protected by XYZ security.

Keep entrance brightly and invitingly decorated and LIT UP.

Get to know the local cops. Figure out who would be covering your area. Let him know the coffee is always warm, the chairs in the lobby are comfortable, and the hospitality is always free.

If you must, get a reliable weapon and learn how to use it, but I certainly hope it never, ever comes to that.

I will give it to you that there is something just classic and flat awesome about the look of a revolver. But a gun that shoots .50 cal rounds? Sick.

ghey. A Desert Eagle shoots a .50AE. It's not like you are shooting a hand held ma deuce. Plus they are junk. If you are going to over compensate for something, you might as well shoot the biggest hand gun cartridrige in the world.

I know they have handguns that are 410/45 long caliber, because I own some, and I would be willing to bet any day of the week, at close range, it does all the damage you need.

Shotgun pistol is what it is basically. I've also never had a problem finding 410 ammo.

Check some out here if you have never heard of them.
