Bryce bashing needs to stop

98% of Panthers fans want him to succeed. Only a few trolls want the team to be horrific and an overall embarrassment.

Just as those trolls are making discourse difficult those who want to constantly speak on Bryce's behalf at every little hint of criticism because he's a #1 overall pick are continuing the cycle of repetitive circular arguments. Let him show us all something and stop speaking as if he's already arrived. You are not his mom and dad. He's not playing at Alabama anymore. We need Bryce Young to step up and just play some football and have fun. Don't be timid don't be afraid of throwing a pick looking downfield. Just go out there and give defenses a reason to think you can beat them with your arm. That's why you were the top pick. All this other outside noise doesn't matter.

Here because you missed it

I think you're missing the forest for the trees here...the broader point is that there's just flat out more being put on Bryce's plate.  Pointing out a singular play where Stroud made an adjustment doesn't mean they're being asked to do the same things.  Even his awkward explanation of it (where he didn't even think Dalton understood what he was trying to say) and the fact that there's a whole article surrounding it, highlights how exceptional it is...and I mean that two-fold.  Exceptional in that it was an outstanding play, and exceptional in that it's outside the norm.

Have you been watching both QBs?  Do you think the amount of pre-snap activity and adjustments looks more-or-less the same to you from both QBs?  Whether Bryce is doing that of his own accord or he's being asked to do that, he's simply doing too much.  It's clear that all the offseason talk about his smarts and processing was way overhyped and mounted way too high of expectations for what we thought he should/would be doing instantly from Week 1.  He seems to be in his head too much, which is something I thought you'd understand because it sounds an awful lot like what Fields came out and said earlier this season before he put together back-to-back incredible performances.  Yeah I know Bryce's brain is his strength, but expecting him to immediately outsmart NFL vets/DCs with decades of coaching experience, while also getting acclimated to NFL game speed, while also building rapport with an entirely new receiving corps, while also mastering a new playbook, while also running for his life behind literally the 31st ranked o-line according to PFF...it was way too tall of an order in hindsight.  Sounds like we're finally going to simplify things for Bryce and allow the rookie to be a rookie, instead of a savant.

No extremes here, he does deserve criticism for bad play, but people are crucifying him saying hes a bust and the wrong pick.

Saying he was the wrong pick is justifiable considering the circumstances at time. Nobody is saying he is a bust yet.

Have any of us watched his film to know how frequently he has done something like this? Has anyone watched the film to see how many times they have audibled at the line? Let’s not act like we know what’s going on more than we do.

So are you guys just literally watching Stroud YouTube highlights or something?  How do you say this above, but also very confidently assert that Stroud's o-line and receivers have been just as bad as Bryce's when you admit to not really watching his film?  Where exactly does that assertion come from?  Oh right, because "injuries"...instead of something silly like how they are actually performing.

I am sympathetic to it because Fields DID go through this and any time I defended Fields I got shredded for it. My question is, because none of us are studying CJ tape and we aren’t in huddles and locker rooms, how do we know what is being put on the plates of either guy?

And because of what Fields went through and now in his second year of a new system and new coaching staff that’s what I don’t want for Bryce. I want him to be in the same system for years rather than have to learn a new one next year. That’s why I’m ok with trading away our defense to support our QBs development. That’s why I’m on record saying he needs two full seasons before he’s truly judged as a stud or a bust

I’m not unfairly critiquing Bryce. He’s being critiqued based on what he puts out in live games. That’s not me calling him a bust. And in the game day threads when he makes a great throw I say just that. When TheCasillas was doing his all 22 posts I was the one requesting the play where Bryce showed flashes of what he can do. I’m not just blindly hating the kid.

His situation looks incredibly similar to what Fields went through for his first two years. No major weapons to throw to and a line that clearly isn’t great with a play caller not taking advantage of his strengths. And it frustrates the poo out of me to see that play out.

Im not having buyers remorse on Bryce yet and I agree he was overhyped in terms of his football intelligence and processing. I don’t care about his height. But he’s ESPNs second lowest rated QB in the NFL on the QB Index only in front of one guy. It’s not just folks here on the forum frustrated with what we’ve seen so far. If he plays better, more folks will come around and there will be less complaining. We have three straight winnable games after the bye. We need to win.

I watch every snap of Young, Fields, Stroud, Richardson. I don’t have All-22. I do not only watch YouTube highlights. However, I was just making a point that nobody here is studying these guys like some NFL scout to know what is being asked of each player. Where did I say his line was just as bad?

Have you ever read a gameday thread? It's definitely more than 2%.

I've heard a whole bunch about what he is. I've not seen a whole bunch of that on the field. I had the Panthers with 6 wins this year, so I don't think my expectations were overblown. The thing is, there is pressure that is built-in for the top pick in the draft, and that's part of the reason why rookie qbs struggle.

He hasn't shown anything. Nothing. Nada. Nunca. None. That would be..okay..if he were some 5th round project pick. There's no more need to continue to hear about what Young is. No need for fluff pieces, damage control, from the team about what other coaches see in him. Coaches aren't going to talk badly about any player on any team publicly. He needs to start showing why he was the #1 pick.

Thats what Im saying, many people in here i see bashing Bryce wanted Stroud.

Stroud hasnt had nearly as much on his plate. i like both of them tbh but Bryce needs way longer look because hes simply been playing like a rookie who has a lot on his plate.

Would love for you to expound on this and give details to back this up. I wanted the Panthers to draft Bryce and I don’t think he’s been as bad as some make him out to be, but some people make generic statements like yours above without having a clue if it’s accurate or not.

UH bs. Its well documented hes not making any adjustments and has no audible control. Zero

So he's just going up there and throwing the ball where told to? And doing a great job at it? Meanwhile confused, overwhelmed Bryce is trying to figure out a math equation each time and sucking at it? Sounds like one is a starter and the other isn't remotely ready.
