Official Jan. 10th Panthers/Cardinals Tailgate Thread

Well I'm going to be meeting somebody for the first time there that I assume is a normal at these events. If the normal donation is $10, then that's no problem with me.

Not really a normal donation amount. People give what they can afford and feel comfortable with.

Just remember that every cent we collect goes to the kids. So, give as much as you can.

Where else can you eat incredible food and drink all day with this great group of people for $10-$20.

Hey Mush, I showed up last time (Denver) and threw more $$ in the jug for the bikes than I would've paid at Blue....... But, I got better treatment than I'd have gotten there too!!! You guys treated me like royalty!!! I like your approach, if u got it, donate it....... if you don't, have fun anyway, just don't take advantage of the situation....... You guys rock... and that damn beef brisket is to die for!!!! Of course, being from Belmont, you wouldn't expect anything less.... See you next Saturday!!!

I think we should be more diligent about screening everybody that goes through the line especially this tailgate. When I stand in the line there are usually only a few people that I don't know but I can't be there throughout all the serving time. While charging per plate sounds like a good idea....

1. Many people often give more than what we would charge.

2. Charging for food means you have to get inspected by the health dept., then a business license, then state taxes, etc.

3. I'd hate to have $10 make somebody who wanted to come down and and hang with us not do it as a result of the $10 per person. That would be $40 for me and my family. Most of the time we don't do this high end fare. We've always welcomed anybody who wanted to come. It may actually reduce the # of people who show up and we've always been very welcoming.

I think between making sure everyone going through the line is known by someone, and know that they just don't show up, load up, then take their food somewhere else, and by maybe doing smaller portions to ensure everything gets eaten on the plate (then you come back for 2nds or 3rds) that we can still serve this high end fare and still responsibly welcome all. What we've done has worked pretty well for the most part but there's always room for improvement.

Plus, I want to have fun on gameday and don't want anybody complaining that we ran out of potato salad when they show up a half hour before kickoff! lol

I'll now official. Ill be there. First timer! About what time do you guys assume the parking will be full and is there any other lots in the near proximity?

Just go I-77S to 277 bypass (think its 277) - get in your right lane ASAP and get off the Church Street exit. Turn RIGHT-- The Huddle Lot is the last big Lot on the right BEFORE MLK Dr. I think its the corner of 3rd and Church. (If you go to far just take a right on MLK and loop around. 2 Rights and you will drive right past the huddle Tent.)

Its always worth doing a "Hot Lap" just to yell at everyone!

Well right before that light (3rd st) on the right is a parking deck that (right before piccaso's) that you can park is for 1/2 the cost $15. It will take you 3 minutes to walk from your car to the Huddle tailgate.

Works like a charm and is cheaper.

We plan on being there, but not at no f*cken 8am I tell ya that!!! :P

I think the donation can needs to go around more, and like someone mentioned a bigger sign for it.

and PS, like someone mentioned we always donate way more than 10 a plate... I think you get more $ donated if you don't charge...

Park there and then throw the extra $15 in the can. Sounds like a plan.

I am taking the train in. Only costs $3 from Pineville and drops me off 2 blocks from the tailgate. That way, I have more for the kids.
