Official Jan. 10th Panthers/Cardinals Tailgate Thread

I think we should be more diligent about screening everybody that goes through the line especially this tailgate. When I stand in the line there are usually only a few people that I don't know but I can't be there throughout all the serving time. While charging per plate sounds like a good idea....

1. Many people often give more than what we would charge.

2. Charging for food means you have to get inspected by the health dept., then a business license, then state taxes, etc.

3. I'd hate to have $10 make somebody who wanted to come down and and hang with us not do it as a result of the $10 per person. That would be $40 for me and my family. Most of the time we don't do this high end fare. We've always welcomed anybody who wanted to come. It may actually reduce the # of people who show up and we've always been very welcoming.

I think between making sure everyone going through the line is known by someone, and know that they just don't show up, load up, then take their food somewhere else, and by maybe doing smaller portions to ensure everything gets eaten on the plate (then you come back for 2nds or 3rds) that we can still serve this high end fare and still responsibly welcome all. What we've done has worked pretty well for the most part but there's always room for improvement.

Plus, I want to have fun on gameday and don't want anybody complaining that we ran out of potato salad when they show up a half hour before kickoff! lol

I agree.

It's amazing how some people really want to make this complicated when we are just trying to raise funds for the needy.

This poo is getting waaayyyyyy too complicated........

Everybody just show up, meet some new friends, enjoy the old ones we already have, get some loving in one of the Porta Johns, have some terrific eats, fall in love, wrestle with someone if you like, share a icy beverage or two amongst some of the best people you'll ever meet, fart, skip, jump, dance, listen to music, enjoy watching the other fools around you, and just enjoy your fuking self! DAMN!

You won't eat any food, anywhere, any better, for what we charge....FREE!

So come on down, just have some fun, and donate to a good cause, and root our Panthers on to the Super Bowl babyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cheers2:

To keep the prime rib hot we may just end up having it served at Ranucci's grill to keep it hot. This should keep people from loading up a side of beef then leaving or getting too much then not eating it.

Also, we can't keep this food out all day so maybe we won't serve the high end fare until later like 5 or 6 pm time frame.

We'll bring more tables so that some may be able to sit down to eat instead of standing, and we have roughly 60 steak knives we'll break out for this too.

About 3 years ago Scrum bought up a bunch of steak knives from this place that got shut down due to E Coli. They opened up the restaurant after theE Coli incident but business went off the deep end and they closed shop.

Got them for like .10 each and we've used them for 3 years now at tailgates with nobody getting sick.

    • Exactly the type of thing he would have done here. The excuse people were stannin’ so hard claiming he would have looked just as bad. Just not true.
    • Yes and there aren't 32 starting QBs in the league either. Too many teams and too many games. The NFL has regressed over the years and game quality is lacking. The other leagues are supposed to be farm leagues but it doesn't matter. You just won't have 32 no matter what they do. The move to super athletes playing QB at all levels has lead to this. It used to be those guys played other positions but now they are QBs who can't really QB.  It has a trickle down effect too. OL can't block because they never had to. The fact that in today's game your QB must be able to run at least a little to survive is evidence of this as well. IMO they have ruined the game same as with the NBA. It's been simplified to the point of being boring.  Just look at the top 10 this season. Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) Joe Burrow (Bengals) Josh Allen (Bills) Lamar Jackson (Ravens) Dak Prescott (Cowboys) Jalen Hurts (Eagles) Brock Purdy (49ers) Jordan Love (Packers) Justin Herbert (Chargers) Matthew Stafford (Rams) Once we get to number 5 the stats look like this: 167 262 1,845 63.7 7.0 10 8 65 18 84.5   47.5   10 TDs and 8 INTs??? At number 5??? There was a time not that long ago that he wouldn't even be a starter.
    • I'm not convinced that the NFL is any better or worse at developing QBs now than they were 20 years ago.  I mean I'm sure there are some developmental issues at play, just not sure it is any different than it has been. The biggest difference IMO is that NFL teams are waaaaaaaay more willing to invest a 1st round pick into a QB now than they were 15-20 years ago.  A guy like Colin Kaepernick would probably be a top 5 pick in 2025, whereas he went in the 2nd in 2011.  Would a guy like Trey Lance go top 3 in 2010?  Hell no.  Look at Russell Wilson - he didn't go until the 3rd round.  The standard for being a 1st round QB has dropped. So it may seem like we're seeing more high-profile busts at the position, but we're also seeing teams reach for QBs way more than they have in the past.  Someone with Anthony Richardson's college resume doesn't go in the top 3 20 years ago.
