Why is this team the "CAROLINA" Panthers?

And the Washington Redskins play in Landover Maryland.

The New England Patriots represent 6 states even though Boston could easily carry that team by itself. It just shows respect for the region. New Hampshire is probably never going to get and NFL franchise, and neither is South Carolina. I think it's just a way to let less marketable states feel like they have a team that represents them. It's not all about the dollars and cents.

Actually, without South Carolina in the mix, the region would not be able to support an NFL team. Both states were needed to convince the NFL that putting a team here would be a viable option.

Oh, and ...

How do you know it's off season for the Panthers? Threads like these get posted ... again, and again, and again
