Love this final four

None of the four teams are playing for their sixth Super Bowl ring, or their third or fourth this decade....all four have had their postseason issues. The Colts are the only ones who have had a taste recently.

The Vikes have lost four Super Bowls and lost four straight NFC championship games.

The Saints are the Saints. Fan base has waited 40 years just to get to the Super Bowl.

The Jets haven't won two games in the same postseason since 1982. One Super Bowl title came before we landed on the moon.

And strangely enough, the Colts might lead all four in disappointment. They've been the best regular season team since Manning entered the League. And yet they've consistently lost to New England and San Diego. As a Rams fan they remind me of my team back in the 70s...always in the mix but always fatally flawed in January.

Nice to see four teams like this knowing one of them will have the ultimate thrill and two of them will at least be at the dance again.

The Colts are probably the last team that CBS wants to see in SuperBowl. Peyton, either love him or hate him. Now that Tiger has gone underground, probably the most sports figure with commercials! Small TV market. Winningest team of the last decade and only 1 SB to show for it.

Vikings; No Joe Kapp (Father of Football free agency) or Fran "The Man" Tarkenton. Brett Farve 40 year old QB! Loved by all, except in Wisconsin.

Saints: As you said it, the Saints are the Saints!

JETS: Rookie QB + Largest TV audience + needed COLTS help to get in! Last time the JETS won the Super Bowl, they beat? The Baltimore COLTS!

ESPN already playing up the fact that the JETS beat the COLTS in week 15.

Irony! Farve might go to the Super Bowl and no John Madden!

I'm pulling for the Colts but as long as the Saints don't win it's all good. I'm shocked that the Jets are going to the AFC game. Never saw that coming.

I agree but the best defense in the league + Best Running game in the game + QB not making many mistakes = success.

Plus, Madame Katherine predicted it at the beginnig of the season.

Still, it would be satisfying to get this one right, just to raise SI's batting average above the Mendoza line, which is why I am disappointed when Madame Katherine tells me she does not give sports predictions. Her clients get upset if she doesn't foresee success for their favorite teams, she says. But after a bit of persuasion she relents. "I am feeling very positive energy from the East," she says. "I am seeing New York, does that make sense?" That would be the Giants, a reasonable choice. "No, a shorter name than that," she says. "Only a few letters."

The Jets? The team with the rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez? The team that hasn't won a Super Bowl since the days of bell-bottoms and peace signs? "All I can tell you is where I feel the energy," says Madame Katherine.

Fair enough. The prediction here is that the Jets will be the next Super Bowl champs, far-fetched as that may seem. As I leave the parlor, I can hear the energy of the universe calling to me at last. Either that, or it is one of the Buddhas, laughing.
