Matt Moore = 1st Rd Qualifying Offer

I started this same thread yesterday, and was shunned by everyone. I do agree that we should give him the first round tender, and see if we get any bites.

I really don't see anyone doing that though. I really don't see him as first round worthy. Possibly second...

He might actually be, but there's not enough info to go on yet.

That's the significant thing here. If there is not enough on him for teams to give upa first rounder, why is there enough to annoint him the starter and give him a multi year extension?

That is why I think the tender is the best option. He gets a decent wage, although cheap for a QB and we get another year to assess him. If he is lights out we have the franchise tag to protect ourselves, but at least then we know what we have going into a long term contract.

Jake Delhomme will not start next season... I highly think he'll be on the team but be our number too, we'll probably see a fresh face in camp to for our number three. Moore will be the starter.

with Fox here, I don't see how anyone can be confident in that thought process.

Because keeping him around in the current system is a whole different thing than giving up something to get him and putting him in a new system.

Matt's a gamer. I'm not saying he's the end all for our QB options, but he certainly needs to be retained for the shot. Try and draft another if the timing is right draftwise to hedge in case Delhomme's time is running out as it appears it might be, but keep Moore in the fold, he's a gamer...

Dang, Mintal where have you been?

Started it a couple of weeks ago too. Tender him the first rounder doubt any teams will bite but it will be decent compensation for him and if he start sucking you are not locked into a longterm contract. Its more of locking him in as a Panther next year at a cheap rate. You do a 2nd and a team will bite and I dont want to match a long term contract.

Great point Urry. That's exactly what needs to happen. However, what do you really see happening? Do you think this is very likely, or do you think they will jump to a multi-year deal, not even resign him, etc.?

Lets face it, this FO has always had a unpredictable nature. Come the off season you literally have no idea what is going to happen. The only thing I can be reasonable sure of is that we won't just let him walk.

    • he averaged 2 yards in YAC per reception last year.  He can't generate quick separation.  He was debating retirement last year.    Yet we championing him as some great option.  AT is a savvy vet we force feed the ball too......on a team starved for basic offense the last couple seasons.  We overrated AT.  Which is why some freak when people like JT on his podcast point out the painfully obvious about him.
    • The Athletic has us ranked 28th on their post-draft power rankings, mainly due to us picking T-Mc instead of defense in round 1. They recognize we needed WR help, but... https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6317651/2025/04/29/nfl-power-rankings-post-draft-rookies-eagles-chiefs-bills/
    • I mean, he is a slot technician.  That's what he does.  So, in a good offense, you would be trotting him out there on 3rd downs and situationally.....to not take what they give him but to move chains.  It's a niche.  AT hasn't threatened defenses in years.  Last time we saw Renfrow on the field he averaged..... 6 yards YAC per catch.  Adam Thielen last year averaged....2 yards in YAC per catch last year.  I still contend in reality, AT isn't a slot WR.  Not in reality.  He is an aging rec TE.  And those aren't the same thing.  AT simply can't generate quick separation or provide YAC.
