Matt Moore = 1st Rd Qualifying Offer

They were in the playoff, they knew it, yeah i'm sure they would have loved to be the #1 seed but they knew they were getting there. You dont think the teams were playing harder at the start of the season? With the playoffs not even in sight?

you could argue that, but i'm not on board with it. If the 1 seed wasn't a big deal then all the starters we saw up against us in that game wouldn't have been playing at all. Favre wouldn't have argued with his coach to stay in the game either.

Also look at how hard we played against the giants last year with basically just the 1 seed on the line. The teams want that spot for themselves, their fans and the money that extra game brings the city, franchise and everyone associated.

Look I understand that, and honestly I'm tired of arguing about it because we are so far off topic, about Moore being worth a first rounder... which my agrue origionally was that he's not.

i've been on the board awhile LaChance, and this isn't the first time a thread has gone off topic. not even close.

edit: i don't think Matt is worth a 1st by league standards. i don't want to give him up for even that though for the same reasons already mentioned. first round flops being the biggest.

I havent been on here not even a month so I dont know much about how the thread works... and when you normally get alot of different people talking about things, the topics seem to get off, but I was just saying that I'm tired of talking about it, basically. Haha.

This thread is so stupid. No team in their right mind would trade their 1st for an UNPROVEN qb in Matt Moore. So, that means the Raiders will, but still...please press your homer buttons and turn your blue blinders off. The kid is solid, and has a chance to be great. But he didn't play enough this year to warrant another team giving up their first for him. Had he played the whole season, perhaps. I don't even think we should trade him, but if we did, another team would be beyond foolish to bite for him.

It'd be like us trading our first (if we had one) for Troy Smith, Tyler Thigpen, or Dennis Dixon. Pure insanity.

My belief is that Moore will get the second round tender. I know a lot of folks will be upset if that happens, but honestly it's reasonable. If it's the first round offer, I won't complain. I just don't think that's what it'll be.

Everything I've read indicates he's got no intention of looking elsewhere and I seriously doubt the Panthers are looking at trading him (nor should they).

You seem to be the only one that is getting the intent of the thread.

The thread is not suggesting Matt Moore be traded but that the Panthers be given a first round tender in he event he doesn't agree to sign with the Panthers and another team wants him.

I have no idea why it is hard for others to grasp...

Does Jerry Richardson like Moore? surely he wouldn't let fox trade him away to start Jake and draft a QB like McCoy simply because he doesn't like moore?

how depressing is the thought of Jake starting next season, he'll be 35 and well passed washed up. Only an idiot would want to start him after the last 12 months.

Jake Delhomme will not start next season... I highly think he'll be on the team but be our number too, we'll probably see a fresh face in camp to for our number three. Moore will be the starter.

Keep Moore at the top of the depth chart. Devote all resources to acquiring the WR and STs' and any other help we need. If Moore proves to be a bust as next season progresses, then look at QBs in the draft, we'll have a #1 to utilize in 2011. We're not going to be able to afford first round money as it is with a QB in this year's draft, Jake's extension took care of that. Moore at a couple mil a year is a worthy investment, possibly a bargain (depending on how he does). Let's concern ourselves with who should back him up!

Look the guy came in and he performed well, but how can everyone be so sold on him after 5 games? He put up some good numbers and I think he deserves a shot next year in training camp. Think back on Derek Anderson... had a pro bowl year a couple years ago, and now look he didnt turn out to be the QB they thought he was. And Peyton Mannings numbers in December? Peyton didnt see alot of playing time remember? Colts benched their starters, Moore and Manning? Come on if you could choose who would you really want?

Derek Anderson? The Derek our QB coach now that turned into a Pro Bowler?

Hmmm....
