Book of Eli

I saw it. I thought the plot and Denzel Washington badassery were excellent. But I thought the plot was lame and they didn't spend nearly enough time working out the details of their post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland. I found the world they created to be full of holes and illogical.

:skep: Decide, decide!

Anyway, saw it, thought it was good, but it's one of those movies that once you see it, you don't need to see it again.

And do we need to know all the details about the wasteland? That's not the point of the movie, IMO.

fug I meant to say the action was good, not plot. It had the potential to be epic but turned out average. I'm not saying we need to know details, just that the details they include should fit together better.

SPOILERS SPOILERS (minor)

For instance clearly all resources are incredibly scarce and I'm sure a good auto parts store is hard to come by, so why do they take like 6 trucks with 1 or 2 people each to chase eli. Why not pile into 1 or 2 trucks? I mean eli is bartering with fuging cat oil and moist towlettes at one point and these assholes are cruising deep in there tow trucks and suvs like it ain't no thing.

After eli kills those two dudes with bow and arrow, he leaves the arrows in their bodies and walks off. "poo, ill just stop by the arrow store and get some more."

The worst is the ipod though. There are so many reasons why there is no chance in hell he could have a working ipod.

All of those things are minor..I hope you did not let that ruin the movie for you

    • I generally don't think he is likely to be a "great" DC, but he could be in the above average to below average band.  I don't care if we jettison him that much but have a plan to improve if that is what you want to do. A better candidate(for sure) and a better roster. If both of those aren't on the table, what is the point?
    • My thing is people were viewing him as the only bright spot from the 23-24 season. Coming into the season he was viewed as a legit DC with upside to possibly get a HC job.   Now we flipped on him after 1 season in which he literally had nothing to work with. All this change is cool, but I would prefer we try to create some stability with the coaching staff. Get some talent on defense and let's see what Evero can do in year 3. If he doesn't improve with better talent then we can move on. I would hate to lose him and he go balls out with a better defensive roster with another team.
    • Actually, I hold the whole defense against Evero. It was terrible last year and it's even worse this year. Injuries aside, the players look ill-prepared to play, they are timid in tackling and we seem to be very passive in our defensive play calling.  I think Evero will be among the coaches called for head coaching interviews and we may get very lucky and he gets a head coaching job somewhere out there. If not, we desperately need to move on. And he isn't one of Canales' guys, but he was given that extra year here at Tepper's request. I think that boon has worn thin. Any words as to keeping the guy right now are just stagecraft and positioning.
