Mike Vick needs to be in Carolina?

You still didn't answer my question. How would you feel about MadHatter if you knew he was really an African-American, Black man, whatever term you choose to use???????????? How silly would you feel?

Id feel even worse for him because he'd be a self hating clown. He'd be like that Dave Chapelle character that was a blind black man at a Klan rally screaming "white power" "say no to black QBs!" LOL. MadHater is not african american, he's a middle aged white guy that work for the Panthers.

The problem with Vick is he isn't a quarterback except in name only. Why in the world we want a 30 year old running back who can throw a pass and only connect about half the time is beyond me. Not wanting Vick has nothing to do with racism. If we were talking McNabb, Garrard or other legitimate black quarterbacks that is one thing. But Vick is over the hill for a guy who relies on being athletic and fast which both decline significantly after 30. Add that he wasn't ever that great when he was in his prime and it is not a surprise at all people don't want him.

And it ignores the fact that he is a felon and was a starter for a hated rival for years.

Anyone who thinks it is about him being black is obviously blinded by his own racist views.

Lol. That was a hilarious skit.

By winning 5 meaningless games when our season is over? You could've made a chimpanzee our QB and he would've played as well as Moore. Alot of QBs in this league could've done what he did including Vick. .

I'm glad you bring this up. It was a long time ago, but those of us who aren't in favor of Vick coming to Carolina do have reasons other than being "Vick haters" or only being fans of white quarterbacks. Some of us remember that Vick in 2005 started 6-2 but missed the playoffs. Even more of us remember Vick's last season he started in 2006 where he started 5-2 and again missed the playoffs. We especially remember that he played poorly in a loss to the 3-13 Detroit Lions (3 turnovers), he played poorly at home in a loss to the 4-12 Cleveland Browns (3 turnovers), and in a game that probably everyone on this board remembers fondly, Vick became only the second quarterback to lose a game to a team led by the immortal Chris Weinke. And in that game, it was another poor performance from Vick who had 2 turnovers and completed 9 out of 20 passes for just over 100 yards. Again, a do or die game, against a team that was fresh off losing a home game by 34 points with an awful quarterback who was so bad that he only threw 6 passes in the game, and you lose at home? Maybe the Falcons should have started a chimpanzee in 2005 and 2006 instead of Vick, since apparently going 5-1 late in the season is something that's easy to do.

All kidding aside - given that this was what happened the last time we saw Vick start, why is it that we should pretend his last two seasons as a starter never happened and only look at what he did in his early years and/or assume that he has completely reinvinted his game after a stint in prison? You would agree that people who think Jake Delhomme is going to regain his 2003-2005 form are crazy, so why do you take exception for anyone else to think that Vick might not be the guy and suggest other motives for that reasoning?

Moore is just more marketable here. He can be marketed as that "underdog" our fans can rally behind. Vick can not, but outside of Carolina no one would take Matt Moore over Vick. He will not garner the same interest as Vick this offseason. That is a FACT. .

Moore isn't looked at as an available quarterback at this point. It's assumed although not announced that he will be our starter going into the season. Vick will not be a starter in Philly regardless of what they do with McNabb. In addition, why should we care that teams like St. Louis and Buffalo who are awful and also in danger of losing their team to another city want to give up a late round pick for Vick to draw short-term interest?

Y would you want Vick? Did you see something that I didn't in him this past season? He was not near the Vick of old while running and his throws were not even close to being a suitable QB. Everyone is stuck on how exciting Vick was before going to jail. I just don't think he has shown that same playmaking ability. Plus what would we have to trade to get him and still pay 5mil.

People dont think Richardson is racist. They think he's partial to sorry white QBs which is why the "Jake's married to the owner's daughter" rumor is born out of. People know Richardson would never go this far and enable a black QB. He's really never developed or brought one in to be the "future" anyway. Most Panther fans know deep down Richardson's idea of a QB is an undrafted unhyped white guy that can be marketed as an "underdog". Ive had white guys who are fans of other teams ask me all the time "why dont the Panthers get Vick?"

One thing I noticed, when any white QB is suggested, people declare us "a run first team" that doesnt need an all world QB to get it done.

When Vick or a black QB with athletic ability is suggested that would embellish our run game, all the sudden "we need a real good passer"

If Vick came here, like the QBs before him the majority of his snaps he would be handing the ball off. This is not the Colts where he's gonna be asked to throw 30 times a game. The truth is, with our backs and our defense and his familiarity with the NFC South, this team is tailor made for a Vick which is why his name keeps coming up. Everybody in the football world knows this is the best spot for him. Unfortunately our owner is more about "image" and "marketing" than doing whatever it takes to win.

If Vick could complete passes and was actually just average at the QB position, I would say bring him in. But he's absolutely horrible at the QB position (by not completing passes and having trouble hanging on to the ball when he is running).

Vick from '04-'06: 36 fumbles, 38 INTs, and 54.8 cmp %

A QB with athletic ability (by being able to run effectively when nothing is there on passing plays) is poo if A) he can't hold on to the ball when he's running and B) he can't complete passes when something IS open. If he could do those things, he would be fine. But he can't.

Whats another black QB that could run that's been suggested here like you said? Pat White? lol please give me a break. There have been supporters of Campbell and Garrard and even a hypothetical situation to acquire McNabb in the past (I can understand the age arguement for this year however) so there goes your arguement.

See, it has nothing to do with race that you continually hide behind because you have no strong arguement for those against bringing Vick in. Playing the race card is weak at best. You do nothing but destroy all credibility you have. You have no leg to stand on when you bring that into the Vick arguements. You never take the football approach by talking strengths and weaknesses of a player. You always go to race. That means you know little to nothing about football.

Btw, during the Panthers first draft when they traded down for more picks their top 2 choices were Steve McNair and Kerry Collins. McNair was selected by Houston, so we selected Collins. Not only have we signed Rodney Peete, but also signed Dameyune Craig and Rod Rutherford over the years (which is something that's been brought up over and over to you). So there goes your arguement that JR is a racist white supremist or whatever name you want to call him.

This shows your ignorance.

Rodney Peete, Dameyune Craig, Rod Rutherford. Jerry isn't partial to "sorry white QBs". He'll take any sorry QB regardless of skin color. Your racist claim is proven to be false.

KT: If Vick is picked up as a starter by a team and fails miserably, will you concede that bringing him to Carolina would have been a mistake?

Only if the people who said last year Vick would never play again in the NFL and said no one would want him will concede they are wrong. If Matt Moore and Jake dont win us a super bowl next season will yall concede that annointing them was a mistake? Dont think so.

Doubting black quarterbacks is a rite of passage in Carolina.

So I guess that the fact that Mcnabb, Campbell, Garrard, Vick, etc... have not won a Superbowl means that you will concede that anointing them was a mistake.

Your twisted logic can be used to support your continued arguement.
