Last two years

only point in the regular season is to get you to the playoffs.

only point in the playoffs is to get you to the superbowl.

only point in the superbowl is to get that lombardi.

there are many teams who are constant regular season champs who can't seem to make a dent in the playoffs.

looking at an overall win/lose record to me is kind of pointless. you take each season one at a time and see if you got your team in a position to get that ring. all the overall record shows me is that fox has a floor of 7-9 and a ceiling of 12-4 but when you look at overall, he's averaging under 9 wins a year. that puts him at just above average. sorry, not happy with that.

i want a team that is going to be well above average and that gets to the playoffs more years than not. 3 years out of 8 isn't enough. lets hope that the year after this 8-8 record is better than the year after our last 8-8 record.

fox is still here so i am hoping for the best. i'm not really expecting it, though.

My point was that the Panthers are still among the top teams in wins the last two years and have a very favorable schedule next year. When Fox had a healthy Delhomme, two wide receivers and a running back who wasn't fifth string, he won four straight road playoff games.

I'm saying you shouldn't hang your heads, Panthers fans.

All this talk about January is good, it's nice to have high expectations. Remember, though, only one team ends the season happy, 31 fall short. If your team is winning consistantly in the regular season, they'll get opportunities to play in the playoffs and win in January. Can't just fire every coach that doesn't win the Super Bowl every year.

Indianapolis 26-6

Minnesota 22-10

New Orleans 21-11

San Diego 21-11

Pittsburgh 21-11

Tennessee 21-11

New England 21-11

Philadelphia 20-11-1

Dallas 20-12

Baltimore 20-12

Atlanta 20-12

New York (Giants) 20-12

it's nothing really extraordinary. even when you limit it to regular season wins you can't say fox did a better job than ken whisenhunt who is 19-13 in the regular season but has won 4 playoff games

yea, yea, i get it, just as long as we're not bottom of the barrel we can act like we've done terrific work. woohooo we're better than detroit.

The post season is nice. But repeated playoff appearances without SB appearances isn't the objective (just ask a Bills fan).

I just want the Panthers to win one Vince Lombardi trophy during my lifetime.

Now, I am thinking if I am lucky I have at least another 40 or so years. Even the Bucs got one in that time.

Yea look at what the Cards have done since getting a good coach. I mean back to back playoffs is very good for a team that was trash every year before that. Thats something we have never seen out of a coach in carolina.

if you're going to go that route, then f**k playoff wins, it's about what you do in the superbowl.

the truth is, if you have a 20-12 record, you're putting yourself in a position to WIN playoff games... and that's what the NFL is all about (or at least, that's what analyzing this statistic is about.)

but isnt the super bowl part of the playoffs? yeah winning 20 games puts you in position to WIN playoff games but when you get there you actually have to win.in our case those 20 wins dont mean poo. because we are still at home watching the other teams play.
