Interesting conversation this week...

Yes, I can personally confirm this. :) Matt seems very care free at least to me, even close to game time. I personally think its a great thing. The first game he started it worried me but its its just his personality. I also agree that this is one of his pros when he plays for sure.

Too bad it is one of the cons when he prepares and practices all week. Hard to get better if you aren't working harder than the competition. Talent only gets you so far.

Hmm use the player that is going to get us the W at the end of the day. Moore should be calm when all he is doing is handing the ball off to those two great running backs, then play action to Moose or Smith, easy as. Thing with Jake is, THAT ITS OVER FOR HIM! If we go back to Jake next season not only would this franchise be taking a step back, it would lose a spectator in me, never again will I watch a game with Delhomme at the helm in a Panthers uniform, he is a never was all his career he has done this not as bad of late but he has always had the tendency to sail a ball, usually just be incomplete but yeh we all no what’s been happening of late. "And that’s the third intercept of the game for Jake Delhomme!" never want to hear that again.

The last few games has proven that he's as good as or equal to Delhomme and better than David Carr or Vinny Testaverde. If one can lead by example in a game he has done so. We started putting up points in a big way and our turnovers dropped dramatically.

Killer instinct or not he's playing at a high level and winning games. I fully support him starting in 2010. He has said in another interview that he was going to work even harder this off season. He must have gotten the message.

When he takes us to a Superbowl or at least the playoffs then you can compare him to Jake or Vinny. Until then he is potentially as good. Look at Ryan, most quarterbacks have a sophomore slump. Right now he hasn't played long enough to even be considered a sophomore.

Clearly some people have a hard time letting go of the past. P55 has trouble accepting that jake is a headcase and is no longer the qb that he was which was average at best. So much that he just nitpicking trying to find anything wrong with matt moore because he doesn't want to accept that this is his team now. The players and fans have moved on. Its time to let go of jake now. He's finished! End of story! Sooner or later you will to let go of 2003. This is an exciting time to be a panther fan. Don't fight it son. Matt moore is the franchise now and jake is no more

Want to know another thing...... Fox liked Foster over Dwill till Dwill started to make Fox look bad. Moore did the same thing this year and Fox's Job rides on Moores shoulder.

Exactly.

Panther55 your argument is invalid simple because the numbers don't lie.

Jake didn't take anyone to a super bowl. Brees might take the Saints to the super bowl, Manning takes the Colts but I am sorry Delhomme doesn't take the panthers there That year it was Smitty (taking punts etc), Davis and Peppers +amazing D who took them. Matt can play care free or a turn emotional crybaby when he loses I really don't care as long as he wins and wants to win. I think your having a real hard time getting over Jake. The only poster I know thats not a troll that still wanted to start him at week 6-7, when he was overdone. Like I said the facts are in and guess what Moore is our best chance.

I would give you some rep for this, but it says I have to spread some more around first.

I agree, and great post. Especially the bold.

Vinny's resume didn't make the 40 yr old QB better than Moore in 07 and Jake's 03 season didn't make him a better option in 09.

Um, you guys really think Jon Fox is going to let Jake sit on the bench next year if he is getting paid 13 million? I think not. Moore should be re-signed, but you know we are going to go through this again in 7 months.

A question off topic, is Dez Bryant going into the draft this year?

Well if your right I want have to worry about Fox being here in 2011. He will Ride Jake right out of Carolina.

Zod said it was a personality conflict. Nothing about Moore not taking things seriously and not preparing right.
thats what i was thinking.

people have this mindset that to be the best you have to act like you have a stick up your butt. that if you aren't acting like the consummate professional (hard core and full tilt in everything you do) then you must not care and you must not be putting enough effort into it.

some of the most talented people i know put the least effort into it. to say that they don't care about what they are doing and they don't look like they are putting forth the effort that others do is just flat out being small minded.

the most important thing for fox is the intangibles....especially when coming to the QB position. apparently he doesn't like laid back people and has a negative opinion of them. he's missing out and the team is suffering because of it.

he has in his head the exact image of what a football team and a football player should look like. he can't deviate from that. you have to learn to be flexible with your paradigms if you are never going to rise to the top.

Problem with this logic is that I have no problem with Moore starting and have said so. I have no problem with Jake being the backup and if we didn't owe him 13 million, I would be fine if we let him go. For all you pinheads who can't read English, let me be clear. I am a Panthers fan not a fan of a player. I was here before Jake and will be after.

As for the past here are the numbers.

In 2003- Smitty only started 11 games and accounted for 7 Tds. He also averaged only 10 yards a punt return and 1 TD. Not even as much as we gave up that year which was 11.5 per return. And he only returned 11 kickoffs-O Tds, the majority went to He Hate Me (44 and I TD).

As for the defense it wasn't even first in the division, that went to Tampa. We were top five in 1 category-penalties. It was top 10 but not marvelous by any means and wasn't why we went to the Superbowl. In the post season we were in the middle ranking 5th out of 12 teams on offense and defense. Peppers wasn't that big a factor with only 44 tackles and 7 sacks. Rucker had a much better year with 58 tackles and 12 sacks.

First of all a team wins not a player or even three. Players elevate their game and play better than in the regular season. Like Jake who went from a passer rating of 80 during the year to 106 during the playoffs. And we had a number of second half combacks and last second victories like we did against St Louis to get to the SB.

Look like not only are you wrong about my feelings about Jake but wrong about alot of things. here is quiz for you. What year did the defense under Trgo put up their best defensive numbers? And no it wasn't 2003. Which defense overall was ranked higher? 2003 or 2009? Actually they were ranked the same-8th.

As for G man- I don't have time for trolls.

And 5 games in 2009 doesn't equate to a career or justify comparing him to guys who took their teams to the playoffs several times in their careers.

Your point??
