Interesting conversation this week...

Zod

Recommended Posts

Zod said it was a personality conflict. Nothing about Moore not taking things seriously and not preparing right.

Zod sugar coated it. Anyone who has played football knows exactly what a football guy is and isn't. It is also the reason some guys can play offense but not defense. There are different mindsets you need to play certain positions. The good news is that you don't have to have the intensity of middle linebacker to play quarterback but you do need to be dedicated.

I am sure there are lots of personalties on a team and coaches are used to working with all kinds. The universal one that causes you to ride the pines if you have the talent is not carrying enough and being slack in practice and the film room.

Just like you twist everything to blame Fox. I told you before that Moore has done little outside of the actually game situation to justify him starting which is why he languished on the bench. This proves I was right. Now to your point. Perhaps Fox will play him and let him start because he now knows that while Moore doesn't have an intense attitude and isn't a prototypical football player, per se, he is a gamer and gets the job done which is also what I have said well before this thread got started. And we all agree that is the most important part. Cartainly Fox has made aloowance for talented guys who lack intensity like Peppers.

My point is that Moore now has the ball in his court to do the best of both worlds. Increase his desire and intensity, practice harder, watch film more intently and allows those actions to help him be even better on the filed than he is now. After all he plays the most important position on the field and needs to be intense and driven for it to be reflected in his offense.

Moore's desire has never been questioned. Moore isn't going to change his personality.....people don't really do that in life. Moore's success in mulitple sports at a high level proves he has drive and is intense..........guys don't display that the same way.

When Jake laid eggs....monster eggs Fox repeatedly "claimed" twice he would evalaute the guys in PRACTICE to determine who would start. Fox then NEVER gave Moore the practice reps with the starters.......kind hard to prove too much when a stubborn coach refuses to give you chances. Fox is some huge flaws.....you just refuse to see the obvious.

How do you know Moore has done little to justify him starting? Jake Delhomme was continously laying eggs week after week yet Fox kept saying he gives us the best chance to win. If anything this shows that the only reason Fox started Jake is because Moore was relaxed whereas Jake wore his heart on his sleeve. And that is one of the most idiotic reasons a coach can give for continously starting an inept player.

Obviously you don't get it and likely won't. Most coaches will tell you that how you practice and prepare will determine how you play. By all accounts Moore is known as slack and laid back. He just seems to be a better game day player than he is the rest of the week. It happens. But the coach will always go with the hard worker and guy who does everything at 100%. Argue all you want but it the personality of a coach to be that way. Everyone I played for in any sport or have worked with over the years is similar.

Look at his interviews, he says even now that he is just going to go out there and do his best and if he plays fine, if not, then thats okay too. Sure it is the thing to say to get along but here is what i wish he would say.

I am going to do everything i can in the off season to work on every part of my game to make sure I am the best I can be next year. I respect Jake and look forward to competing with him for the starter job. I like the competition and look forward to working harder than ever this year.

Yeah, A big difference.

then get Zod to say what he really meant was what panther55 is posting.

everyone who has played football knows there a guys like Steve Smith....and guys like Moose. Moose isn't less of a football player b/c of how he carries himself in comparison to the uber intense.

Give him time. P-55 used to blindly defend Jake also...:D

Yes it has been. It has been a question in college and in the pros. And we are not talking about changing his personality. we are talking about changing his work ethic when he comes to work every day for the Panthers. It is real common for guys to be one way at home and with friends than when he goes to work each day. It is called having a strong work ethic and seperating your business life from your personal life. Some guys hav a hard time doing that and they rarely succeed.

You just answered your question. We will see in practice who should be the starter. Given Moore's reported poor practice effort, it was clear in practice. It wasn't until he played in a game that we saw the other side thank goodness.

You are the one who argues ad nauseum when you don't have a leg to stand on.

and what do you know about Moore's work ethic? Obviously, he works hard enough to of had a chance to play 2 sports professionally.....the odds of making it that far in 1 alone are slim.

So what we have learned is that fox would rather have a qb that throws ten ints a game as long as he's intense instead of a laid back qb that does nothing but win games. If you need any more proof that fox is the dumbest hc in the history of the nfl here it is. Btw, don't you guys love the intensity of eli manning? That's the only reason the giants won the super bowl

Zod might eventually but that would A. stop the debate and after all he is about stirring controversy and posting counts, not resolving issues, and B. even then he is clearly a big time moore supporter so it wouldn't necessarily indicate it is the truth just his perceptions given his feelings already.

Having you and I go back and forth for 10 pages is the point of the message board and why he posts the things he does.

I thought that was elementary, Watson.

lol.

No, Fox said he would evaluate both guys in practice twice this year following Delhomme being complete garbage. Then BEFORE they even stepped foot on practice field Fox delcared Jake the starter and gave Moore zero reps.

See, Fox didn't do what he claimed he would as a coach....twice this year. Fox publically made his decision before practice begain both of those weeks. Those are facts.

Me personally, I have only met him once. But I listen to what people who know him say or what is written about him. And it was never blatantly said but often intimated. I just don't have to be knocked in the head to read between the lines and figure things out like some of you do.:D
