Bill Cowher to NY?

Ex-Steelers RB Jerome Bettis said Thursday that Bill Cowher hasn't accepted a head coaching job the past couple of seasons because he's "holding out" for the Giants job.

New York is "where he always wanted to be," said Bettis. "The Mara family, he's been very close to them ... and was on the inside track -- before the Giants won the Super Bowl -- for that job." Bettis, who is tight with his former head coach, believes Cowher will end up coaching the Giants eventually. If Tom Coughlin misses the playoffs again next year, it could happen as soon as 2011.

Just to add some truth to this. I was flying out of RDU about a month ago, I believe it was the morning before the Giants game and I had breakfast with Bill Cowher at the Carolina Ale House. He said he was flying to la guardia and when I asked what for he kind of changed the subject really quick. I know he probably went to the game.. but what for. I believe la guardia is right next to the Giants stadium. Just some food for thought.

I know alot of people say things like this but I got a picture if you don't believe me.

It's believable. Bettis would certainly be in a position to know.

Yeah, and I thought Coughlin was in a prime position to be Shanahaned this offseason. Cowher's preoccupation with NY was much like Carroll's with SD. Eventually, Carroll got tired of waiting for the other shoe to drop, and moved on. If Coughlin is deemed safe for '11, Cowher could move on as well.
