Holy crap I'm gonna miss the playoff game!

I gotta tell ya Shinner...and I don't know you, and I realize a wife is involved and I know how tricky that can get...

I told her about it when she got home...her reply..."you'll still get the scores via txt msg on your phone, right?"...."Yep"...."So what's the big deal?"

There's the rub...4 of us going to the hockey game, been planned for months, everyone excited about going (this will be the only game we go to all season)...money spent to watch a game in person vs staying home, having 3 people pissed at me to watch a game on tv.

hope for a blowout and leave early....or just leave early anyway, the game wont start until 8:30, you should be able to catch most of it

I don't leave early...ever. The hockey game should be over by 9:45 though so I should be able to see the 2nd half anyway by the time I get out of the parking lot and on the road to the in-law's house (only about 30 mins away). And I'll duck into the brewpub on the way out to check out what's going on.

random hockey game over a panthers playoff game? :frown2:

So if the Bobcats were playing a playoff game on the same day the Panthers were playing a "random football game", you'd throw yer tickets away and watch the basketball game on TV eh?

easy decision for me. SELL SELL SELL

You can go to a hockey game anytime. I would sell the hell out them, use the money to go to the Panther game and be apart of Panther History.

but you do what you want.

what I want and what is in my best interests are 2 different things.

I would sell them for whatever I can get. $250 will eventually come back...it's not like it's your life savings or anything.

Wish I could throw money out the window as easily as you apparently do. Next time $250 is draggin' ya down, remember me....I'll PM ya an address to send the money to.

DVR it, do your best to avoid hearing scores on your way home, watch. Why is this hard?

It's not hard at all...my original post was meant to convey major disappointment at not being able to watch the game as it happens. Of course I'll have the DVR cranking. Avoiding scores will be pretty much impossible...if the Eagles win their game vs Minnesota, the arena will no doubt have scores from all the playoff games flashed every now and then.

I'm not a loser bobcats fan, and I said "panthers playoff game", not just a playoff game for any random sports team. Whatever though, you can do whatever you think is right. I just wanted to tell you what I would do in that situation. Keep on pretending that $250 is the biggest investment you'll ever make, and try not to be so sensitive next time either, k.

you definitely could help this panther fan out and sell me the tickets. that is if you are planning on going to the hockey game.

Hey guys, I don't have Panthers tickets (guess I wasn't clear on that in the original post)....this isn't a choice between going to the Panthers game or going to the hockey game. I have tickets for the hockey game in Philly (family outing) and will most likely miss the 1st half as it turns out.

It was an example...I only used the Bobcats as they're local to Charlotte (as the Flyers are local to me). You honestly would miss a Panthers game you had tickets to (for yourself AND your family, which you bought months in advance), in order to watch a playoff game of another favorite team of yours on TV....Pissing off your entire family in the process & disappointing your kids? Really? Feel bad for your kids if you ever have any.

I love being lectured to about money by a 19 year old. Yer probably loaded though, so like I said, commit to the $250 and I'll shred the tix so I can watch the whole Panthers game. C'mon it's not the biggest investment you'll ever make. :)

Actually, besides a couple of bucks here and there, I'm f*cking broke, man. It's a shame you've decided to skip the game, but that's your decision. I guess I don't blame you for it now, considering I forgot to factor the whole family part of it into the equation. Well hopefully, nothing gets in the way to prevent you from watching our team's next playoff game the following week.

Nope! Nothing on the schedule, no tickets waiting to be used

My wife's cellphone can run the Slingbox mobile client....maybe I'll buy that and check in on the game with her phone via my Slingbox (assuming there's a signal in the arena)

Thats actually a good idea.

Hate it for you, but as long as you don't ruin your hockey game worrying about the playoff game you're missing.... you'll be fine. No need to make this a lose/lose

Hockey game will be fun especially if they win. We will win as well making it a great day. You can watch the game later knowing the outcome but still enjoying it. Your family will still be intact and you can watch us the next week with a free conscience and family support unless we are playing the Eagles then you might be divided.

Win-Win all the way around.
