Crossman's firing has probably ended our hope

Crossman got fired because he sucked.

Been that way for years. Why did the change take so long? Why in the world did Crossman survive when all the other changes were made. Can't believe Fox would stick with someone who was so bad at their job for so long.

Does Jake Delhomme rings a bell?

i still don't understand why so many people hate john fox. for sticking with a guy (jake delhomme) who's taken us to the superbowl, two nfc championship games, and quite a few playoff games. i wasn't a panthers fan until the 2003 season. since fox has been here, he's had what, one, two non-winning seasons? i think after seeing matt moore light it up the way he did at the end of the season, fox finally realizes that jake delhomme isn't the only QB on his roster that can get the job done. i think the fact that moore didn't show enough to his coaches in 2007 forced fox into sticking with delhomme, until his injury and the outstanding play that moore put in this past season. if fox doesn't give matt moore a chance for the starting job this off season, then yeah, have at it... bash the guy all you want. but in my opinion, i wouldn't want any other coach running our team right now.

and yes, danny crossman definitely deserved to go. he was the weakest link in the organization, and he should've been gone long ago... but perhaps they didn't have money to pay someone else, or they didn't feel like someone that was available in that five year span could do a better job. this is a business, and we're the fans. we only see the outside of the box, but they're the ones making all the big decisions on the inside. stop being fair weather fans and stick behind your team, geeze!

Fair weather fans come and go. Some of us in the Huddle were fans before the actual team even came into existence. Fair weather fans come and go, but we've been here through rain, shine, feast or famine. There used to be a forum on the official team web site that some of us were members of back in the day but due to trolling and personal attacks, the brass tired of it and eventually got rid of it, but not before they gave fans time to transition to new forums, of which the Huddle was the creme of the crop. Many of us have been here longer than our documented start dates. The Huddle was infected many months ago, so though it may say we became members in 2008, many were members long before then. I tell you this only because people use the term "fair weather fan" inappropriately and out of context. Indeed, calling for a coaches head (or yearning that they just leave) is part---or will be part---of nearly every NFL team fan during some point in their lifetime, so to call this as being "fair weather" is a nebulous notion.

In this specific circumstance, there are probably hundreds of Huddlers on both sides of the equation. It's not like Fox's decisions haven't given people occasion to swear at their TVs on many Sundays throughout his career. Two of the last three years have left a lot to be desired, and the 12-4 season ended on the sorriest display of pro football that many have ever seen in the playoffs (vritually undoing the good of that season in one fail swoop). But, we are still here---and have been here---giving untold amounts of time to discussing ways to make our team better, sharing observations, thoughts, and sometimes just shootin' the breeze. We have been here through the Sieferts and the Weinkes, the Carrs, and the Colberts. We have expressed sadness with the departues of Sam Mills and Fred Lane, and directed vitriol towards Rae Carruth.

We are the real fans. We are the hardcore fans. Though we debate, attempt to outsmart or outwit, and sometimes downright fight with one another, you will find no fair weather fans here among the true core of the Huddle, sir.
