Too little Too late firing Crossman. April has been nabbed

I am with rayzor on this. If Crossman had great numbers up to now and this year was the exception I might agree with you. But he has been bad since he got here. Plus injuries are not Fox's fault. As for him having mediocre (not medicore) guys, i don't think that is true. Every team uses backups and some of our backups for example Anderson, Rosario, Barnidge, etc. did pretty well when they played.

If you look at our special teams we were fundamentally poor. Guys didn't hold their lanes, didn't block well, were out of position, etc. That wasn't skill but practice and attention to detail. If we get a good ST coach in here watch out numbers suddenly get better with essentially the same cast of players.

Once Smitty quit the return game, Crossman has been forced to use Nick Goings, Mark Jones, etc, and handful of very unexplosive return men......in the today's NFL you aren't going to get far in the return game w/o having legit studs returning kicks. From day one every guy has looked to lack the natural instinct needed at the position post Smith for the most part.......Mark Jones is the ONLY one in recently history that looked comfortable making the right calls and catches and he lacked the physical ability to be a threat.

We will see.....I will watch. But I think the only way the return aspect drastically improves next year.....is if Carolina finally brings in a legit NFL return man.

also, I know how to spell but if I don't correct typos on a messageboard.

The issue for me is that we leave big holes in the coverage that are easily exploited by other teams and yet I never see big holes for our guys on returns. We had the worst starting field position of any team in the NFL. That isn't just the return man but the blocking schemes as well and coverage teams.

That doesn't even include the fact that if I remember correctly, we were the only team to have both a punt and field goal blocked this year.

For as much as you lambast Fox and Davidson it is amazing you would give Crossman any slack. Are you sure you aren't related to him somehow.:D

big holes appear to be created from explosive playmakers also.....Carolina hasn't had a guy of that caliber in years. They can and do often created something out of nothing. I am not blowing off the importance of blocking and discipline to go with it..........but when you put guys back there that clearly aren't comfortable doing the job at this level it is going to have bad results regardless. Mark Jones is the only guy recently that simply looked like he good field a catch without looking like it could be immediate disaster.

I really just hammer Fox......everyone is just an extension of him ultimately. Crossman is the one guy that hasn't had some legit talent to work with so I don't hammer his as hard as some might. A lot of special teams blunders and inability to make plays imo falls on a lack of talent imo. A legit returner has been a need for years........it has always been ignored and each year they insert a marginal NFL return man and we wonder why little happens. You put a below average RB behind our OL all year long and he will struggle......you but a below average return man on the field and he will struggle in a similar fashion.

If you are in any way, shape or form against or questioning the firing of Danny Crossman.. do everyone, including yourself a favor.

Stop posting.

Danny Crossman is/was the worst ST coach employed in the NFL. It has been this way for years now. If you somehow missed that, or you are related to him/he's your drinking buddy/he has incriminating pictures of you too.. then that's fine.

No need to spill that filth here though. Crossman personifies the word terrible. Just stop. There's nothing to argue about. Anyone who is qualified for the job will be an upgrade, because Crossman never was.

I am not saying Crossman doesn't suck. I am not saying he should stay. I am saying just bringing in a new coach alone doesn't solve what was wrong with special teams this year.

I cannot emphasize this enough. Please read it again.

read my last post again. Yeah, he sucked and needed to be fired.......there are still other problems that exist on special teams and a new coach doesn't change that.

Wow just wow. Are you drunk posting again?? Crossman is awful and frankly whoever they get will improve special teams next year.

Talk about backing the wrong pony. You routinely slam a head coach who is well regarded around the league and some believe is a top 5 coach, and you defend a ST coach who routinely has units in the bottom 5 of the league. At least try and be in the ballpark.

I don't know if you've noticed, but ST'ers are new guys who aren't good enough to start, but are backups and have to do more than just sit on the bench to be on the team.

It's probably the one aspect of a football team that's close to 100% reflective of the coaching. Sure, to have a #1 unit you need a pretty good return man, a head hunter/leader on coverage, super gunner.. etc.

But come on, we're not even close to worrying about that. We're just worried about covering kicks and setting up a few blocks so we're not a freaking embarrassment.
