CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—Stephen Jackson scored 16 of his career-high 43 points in the fourth quarter and the Charlotte Bobcats clamped down on defense after halftime to rally past the Houston Rockets, 102-94 on Tuesday night.

Surpassing his previous best scoring night of 42 set nearly six years ago with Indiana, Jackson made 15 of 22 shots and 10 of 11 free throws while adding eight rebounds. Making up for a subpar night from Gerald Wallace, Jackson keyed Charlotte’s comeback from a 13-point, second-quarter deficit.

Boris Diaw added 19 points and seven rebounds, including the clinching three-point play with 50 seconds left.

Big respect to Jax. The boy done good tonight. Jax answered the critics and I loved our defensive intensity down the stretch. We love you Vagrant. You're family baby, but make no mistake about it, Jax is a damn good 2 for us.

MAD props to Jax tonight. I deserve a little bit of heat for trashing him, but we've got to keep it in perspective though. He did everything tonight, but we need him to be better game to game before I totally take back everything about him not being the guy to get us over the top. He was the real deal tonight though, and you'd be blind to not see that.

Still though, when he's not hitting as hard as he was hitting tonight he needs to be more selective with the shots. But when you're as hot as he was tonight, pull up from the hash mark.
