You can only pick one- Shipley or McCoy

I think McCoy will do well in the NFL if handled right. Coaching and preparation are so important for young qbs. As for those down on McCoy, lighten up...it's pretty dadgum hard to throw a ball when you can't even feel your arm. Some of you guys kill me with your negativism! NOBODY playing at the level of Colt McCoy WANTS to miss the biggest game of his life! GET REAL!

Oh, Inimicus, if I used your logic, I could accuse Smitty of being a wimp because he didn't play anymore AFTER breaking his arm on that play, did he? But no one in his right mind would pen something so foolish, right?

I wouldn't compare Smitty to McCoy. I know Smitty wanted to play against the 'Aints, but the team didn't want him to make it worse. Weak to compare him to McCoy there with how Smitty doesn't throw balls & he didn't hurt his shoulders.

Dont want McCoy really but some people here are ignorant.

Texas' football trainer said his staff could not clear quarterback Colt McCoy to return to the BCS championship game after he injured his right throwing shoulder in the Longhorns' 37-21 loss to Alabama.

Trainer Kenny Boyd said in a statement released by the school on Saturday that McCoy "wanted to go back in the game ... (but) we couldn't clear him to do that."

McCoy was hurt on Texas' fifth play on offense and the NCAA career leader in victories (45) as a starting quarterback didn't take another snap in his final game. Freshman Garrett Gilbert played the rest of the game.

"Colt sustained a nerve injury involving his right shoulder that prevented him from returning to the game. The injury caused numbness and weakness in his arm that prevented him from throwing with the strength or accuracy he needed," Boyd said. "He wanted to go back into the game but with the weakness he was having in the shoulder, we couldn't clear him to do that.

"The weakness in his shoulder also put him at risk of greater injury. From the time of the injury, we were continually treating and re-evaluating him, but he wasn't able to regain the strength he needed to get back on the field."

the announcers reported during the game that colt wanted to go back in but the staff said no. its not revisionist history post game. he was speachless after the game as he knew he had worked 4 friggn years to get to the ncg only not to be allowed to play in it. dude was heart broken, and hell he didnt look to thrilled, seamed almost disintrested, when trying to pump the offense up.

i get the staffs idea as a guy that can feel his arm or hand likely is fumble waiting to happen. what got me is he wasnt even allowed to attempt any warmup passes after the half. idk who's idea that was.
