Cheers to the Unsung Heroes of the Season

We know who the perennial favorites on the team are, but there are a lot of guys who just don't get credit for the positive impact they have on the team. So let's hear it for them!

My nominations for the best of the unsung heroes this year include:

--Tyler Brayton: No, he's not Julius Peppers but he played really well in all phases of the game. He took over for Mike Rucker and appears to have been a great pick up for the team over the last couple of years.

--Ryan Kalil: Centers never get the credit they deserve, but Kalil has shown a lot when it comes to leading the line. Pass protection has been good and the line has one of the best pushes in the league. Almost always makes it to the second level of defenders and punishes a linebacker or safety on running plays. Smart guy.

-- N'ail Diggs: Beason and Davis may get all of the coverage, but there's a reason Diggs has held down the strong side for years, even in the face of some serious draft picks and trades. He's good, he's steady, he's reliable and throws in with the special teams, something you don't see much from starters with as many years in the league as he has.

-- Muhsin Muhammad: Talk about the ageless one. He's still got it and I hope we keep him for next year, too.

-- Brad Hoover: Talk about your lunch-pail carrying, hard worker. He's unknown outside of Carolina for the most part, but he's one of the few that is keeping the fullback a living position in the NFL. Guy deserves a Pro Bowl nod for being the lead blocker to two 1,100 yard rushers this season.

Good thread. I would like to throw in Captain Munnerlynn, Jeff Schwartz, Sherrod Martin, and Tyrell Sutton. I know Sutton, Schwartz, and Martin didn't play that much, but they helped this team out big time when they did, and the Captain turned out to be a steal for a 7th round pick.

Add in Schwartz, Bernadeau, Sherrod and Jansen (if you don't know who he is, that is a great thing)

Good choice in Jansen. Going into the year, myself and a lot of people were concerned about the loss of Kyle, but J.J. made us forget about that pretty quick. Very solid job by the young kid!

Remember when Nutcracker was just a "Raiders castoff?"

I really want to see him back.

I remember taking a bunch of crap when I said that the move was a good one and that he had very good measurables but played for Oakland which is why he underacheived. He is one of my favorite blue collar guys. Zod put it best, he is always one or two steps away from being all pro.
