Why does everyone want to trade J-Stew?

If it was up to me I wouldn't trade neither one. Stewie has really stepped up and showed me sumthin these past few games. But if I had to trade one, it would have to be Stewie. DWill is the best offensive player on our team hands down!! Maybe a couple of you have forgotten that because he's been hurt and u haven't been seeing him run but he is the BEST offensive player, if not the BEST player on our team. Example, DWill was running the ball when we had no passing game and the opposing teams defense knew that because we had sorry ass Jake in the game. Stewie started putting up all those numbers when we became a two dimensional team becuz Moore could actually throw the ball to someone on our team unlike Jake. DWill > Stewie hands dwn. But I do love them both and hope they both stay in Panthers uniforms forever.

Agree with "comparing stats from different eras and years is always inexact and relative". Disagree with "YPC is the best way to level the playing field" for the same reason you mentioned (bolded above).

Bottom line is calling them the best RB duo in history is big time homerism and open to debate. Hell there are some that would argue that they aren't even the best this year.

I would say they surely make a case for best contemporary RB duo. As for all time, lets see them do it again next year. Back to back would prove that this year wasn't a fluke and lend credibility to talking in historic terms.

People complained so much about us trading back into the draft to get Jeff Otah. But we ended up with a stud player in the middle of the first round. We ended up trading a lesser 1st round pick (from our 12-4 record) and got OTAH!

To get into the 1st round to draft Otah we gave up:

Philadelphia received Carolina’s first-round pick in 2009 along with a second-rounder (No. 43) and a fourth-rounder (No. 109) this season.

In no way, shape or form was this a 1st for a 1st deal.

That's what should be 3 good players on our current roster. Not to diminish the player Otah is but get your facts straight.

They already contend for best duo of all time.

Another year of 2000+ between them will probably cement it.

It's just a gut feeling, but I think that many of you are seeing this situation through rose-colored glasses. When contract time comes up for each one of them, are we realistically going to be able to keep them both, not only in regards to money, but in regards to touches (their desire to be the main guy, and sense of history)? We had a stud back riding the pine behind inferior talent, and drafted a back who people thought would be a stud, and actually turned out to be one. We got lucky in a sense, because D-Will tore it up last year, and Stewart confirmed his stud status this year. Now that both backs' stock is rising, the cat is out of the bag, and no one wants to address the big elephant in the room.

Not saying that we can't keep them both, but let's be less emotional and more real (and perhaps practical) about the situation.
