House Question - Shared pond

My buddy has a house that backs up to a pond. Not huge but probably 80 yards long by 40 yards.

Now his house is the only one that really has access to the pond. Most of the other houses - maybe 8 or 10 - back up to the pond but are heavily wooded and nobody has cleared it out.

So I told him to buy some remote control boats and to stock the pond with fish so his kids can have their own fishing hole.

Anyone live on one of these shared access ponds. What are the rules usually?

I would say it depends on the property lines... if his neighbors property lines provide them access to the pond, then they have rights to it as well.

Best thing to do probably is for him just to ask his neighbors if they mind.
