Colt Mccoy is the biggest puss

I am not questioning his toughness or whether he could have played. I am questioning his leadership in teh biggest game of his career.

He looked interested in watching the game. I saw shot after shot of him on the sideline while the Texas defense was on the field. He should have been sitting and talking with Gilbert...trying to give him pointers...pointing out things he was seeing...etc. He was a heisman calibre senior QB and his back-up was a freshman who had never played...anything Colt could have told him woudl have helped.

Once again, you're making assumptions based on a couple of 3 second clips of McCoy on the sidelines. I'm sure the coaches wanted to be the ones doing most of the talking to that true freshman QB anyway. That kid had enough to worry about without 3-4 people trying to talk to him at once. I also doubt McCoy could have added much more wisdom than those coaches that have had years of experience working with young players in tough situations, and the results speak for themselves...the kid did pretty damn good, considering the circumstances.

cheynehowell and chbright are tonight's NAPA Auto Parts Tools of the Game!

why, because gilbert sucked? he threw 2 passes all night worth a damn. sorry your team lost. iirc, i remember you saying vt had pussy qbs when fsu knocked 2 of them out in 2008. hows it feel when your teams qb goes down and the backup sucks?

How can you say Gilbert sucked? For a true freshman to come in cold, and in that situation, I thought he was pretty damn good. Up until that sack/fumble, Texas had all the momentum and looked like they had a great chance to win.

sounds like a nerve problem.

You sir are correct! Pinched nerve, per some fella' on Twitter...

And a little blurb from Rotoworld:

Texas QB Colt McCoy was diagnosed with a mere pinched nerve following Thursday night's BCS title game loss.

He'll be recovered "within days." McCoy, injured on the Longhorns' second possession, oddly returned to the sideline during the game with his shoulder pads on but never reentered. The fifth-year senior's toughness is being questioned, and his 2010 draft stock was already dropping after a miserable SEC Championship game performance. McCoy isn't a first-day prospect.

Somebody needs to inform rotoworld that Colt McCoy doesn't play in the SEC.

Seriously though, I don't buy this stuff about his draft stock dropping because of this. If he's not a first day pick, it probably has more to do with playing in the spread offense, than how he played in his last two games.

Personally, I'm not that impressed with this year's QB class anyway.

did you only watch the end of the 3rd and 4th Q? forgetting the rest of the game for him or what? he was garbage the 1st half, the screen pass was an absolutely horrible decision to throw it in traffic. he should have chucked it into the ground. the pay call wasnt the problem, gilbert throwing it when 2 bama players all over the rb was a bad call it was doomed to fail even if the rb caught the ball.

also the recievers bailed him out on the 1st td drive, and the 2nd td was a blown coverage by bama. try to cover shipley with a safety with no help over the top. yeah thats what bama was really trying to do there. when he found his groove, it was the same over the middle pass he stared down every time (he stared down all but the 1st td thrown, by far the best all night).

watched pyror last year do much better. same for barkely and both the mich qbs this year. same with the USF qb. fsu had a freshman (manuel) come in after the 2nd best passer in the acc went down and still was more effective in both the passing game and running game than gilbert. i would have taken the much hated yates out there over gilbert last night (not fair as yates isnt a freshman).

the reason texas had momentum was as much to do with bama stepping off the gas in the 2nd half and not even attempting to pass that much, and running right into the texas front. texas defense did a wail of a job tackling in the 3rd Q, and most of the 4th, and are the 2nd biggest reason that texas was able to even get it close in the 4th. the biggest reason they were in it: special teams, 3 turnovers on special teams, missed fg by bama. its hard for a team to win with 5 freakn turnovers by a qb (as we all know about with jake).

if mccoy is in that game, texas wins. they had a chance in the 1st 5 min to take a commanding lead with the 2 turnovers, but without colt in there, texas did poo on offense and got 2 fgs. idk if they get 2 tds, but i have a good feeling the 1st drive ends up a td. gilbert made some really awful throws all game (he did have a few dropped by wrs), and was bailed out by goodwin twice (3rd and a mile and goodwin gets the ball behind the line of scrimage and the rest of the texas wr block so he can pick up the 1st downs) and newton as well. the texas running game was much better than expected, esp without colt in there to keep them honest.

EDIT: landry jones had to come in this year at against texas and kept it more intresting for OU.

i agree, i don't think his draft stock is dropping because of that game, however it doesn't help at all. but with the little amount of franchise qb's coming out in this year's draft class, i wouldn't be surprised to see him go off the board near the end of the first round. especially to a team that already has a seasoned QB running their offense and might be looking for a solid backup, like green bay or denver. or pending on what happens to a few clubs (i.e. cleveland or seatle), he could get drafted and sent to the bench for a year or so like how the Buccs had Josh Freeman sit out that first year.

but, IMO, he should've sucked it up and played the damn game. the way surgeries are now-a-days, you could tear your entire arm off and have that thing sewn back on and still be able to play ball. and when they interviewed him after the game, he reminded me of Vince Young and his weird disappearance act from last year or whatever. he wasn't crying or anything, as if he didn't really care that his team just lost the N'tnl Championship

    • Our Oline is decent, but the roster itself isn't very good.   It seems Bryce is a step slow mentally. He's missing wide open WR's at times. That's inexcusable. For whatever reason he forgot how to play QB at the NFL level. Sure our culture sucks, but damn we gave him a pretty decent Oline this year and upgraded the skill positions slightly.   My only thing is we gave him 2 weeks. That seems a bit unfair. Maybe 4 weeks in if he's still playing like trash you move on. My only thought is Canales doesn't want him. He made the decision to move on early. It is what it is.
