Andy Dalton threw the ball 58 times that game, and had less Yards per Attempt than Bryce did last game...

Yes and he's also 35 years old and washed he's basically an older Darnold. But our passing offense looked as good as it has in a month. It's sad but true.

Right but why is that? Does Reich simply not have confidence in Bryce because he is a rookie or is he not confident in his ability to throw downfield? Either way this is a mess.

It’s because Dalton literally told Frank to call more deep passes. Reich has even admitted this. The 10 plus year vet had to tell him hey coach let’s try a couple deep shots.

And when he does throw deep it’s inaccurate. We can’t win.

I'm legit trying to think of his deep throws.  Week 1 he had two, one was an overthrow (100% on him) and 2 was TMJ quitting on his route (not really his fault, but inconclusive).  I know last week he had one and he was hit as he threw it.  So yeah he hasn't been accurate on those 3 passes, 1 due to getting hit (bad OL), 1 on his WR not finishing his route, and 3 on him overthrowing it.  I can't think of many more if any deep attempts.

Yeah...I was about to say, we're talking about a sample size of 3-4 passes at this point.  This is where a tiny bit of critical thinking goes a long way.  One of the prevailing criticisms here has been that Young isn't attempting deep throws (which is valid).  Depending on who you ask, Bryce has attempted somewhere between 1 deep pass (according to LG) and 4 deep passes on the season.  Now we're saying Bryce is one of the worst graded deep throwers in the NFL.  Both can be factual...but just take a second and think about the interaction between those statements.  If Bryce is 0 for 3 on deep passes for the season, then of course he's going to be graded extremely poorly.  Also, most of us agree that Bryce's deep throw to TMJ in Week 1 would have been on the money if he hadn't slowed down on his route.  But I imagine PFF doesn't operate on hypotheticals like that and simply record that as an inaccurate throw.  I'm pretty sure their assessment is more of a "catchable" vs. "uncatchable" ball.  Clearly that pass was uncatchable.

It's like saying after Week 1: "Yo Josh Allen is on pace to throw 17 TDs and 51 interceptions!!".  Technically true...but yes, sample size does matter.

So all Bryce Young has to do is ask for more deep passes and voila we're looking better?

Our front office spent most of camp telling us about how much they were putting on Bryce Young's plate and how he was basically leading meetings and calling his own protections. Either Frank Reich is the most inept conservative coach we've had since Ron Rivera or they are having buyers remorse. Maybe it's both.

You guys should watch this.  Bryce is trying to make chicken salad out of dogshit.  It was bad to watch on Sunday and its even worse today.  Bryce left some plays on the field for sure, but he is getting ZERO help from anybody 90% of the time....they have GOT to make a move for some speed and talent on the outside or we are screwed

That I'm not surprised about at all. He's gotten sacked a ton on scrambles,  gave up two huge fumbles and hasn't made a lot of positive impact while doing it.

No no no...you gotta look deeper into the tape to see the positives like joemac and Spackler do. There is a positive even on a negative play you just gotta find it.

Watch the QB School video I just posted and you tell me WTF Bryce is supposed to do on most of those plays.

I wonder if San Francisco would at all be interested in trading Aiyuk???  Probably not, but they do have a dearth of offensive weapons, and they probably are not going to be able to afford to pay them all....

Not a chance, he's been their 2nd most important weapon behind Christian in a year they are contending to win it all and honestly in my eyes are one of the more likely teams on paper early in a season to match the Dolphins' perfect season that we've seen in the last decade (still super super unlikely obviously).

The coaching staff doesn't trust him.

Look at the routes with Dalton in, completely different offense with different route combinations.

Steve Smith noticed it as well and mentioned it on his podcast

Well yeah?  Dalton is a 10+ year former Pro Bowler and Bryce has played 12 quarters of professional football.  Who would you trust more?
