Before everyone gets too excited about Moore...

Nothing stupid about it. Foster was starting despite the FACT that Williams was putting up better numbers. If your arguement is "Foster was the starter" then that same logic should apply to the QB. You not wantiing to believe it doesn't mean it isn't possible that JR privately made input to player decisions like several other owners do publicly.

so all along it was jr? when has jr ever meddled in the coaching or personnel decisions? from what i understand he is a hands off owner. what have you heard or saw that says he did these things?

Are you doubting that JR had 5 players that he wanted to take roles as team leaders at his lakehouse? That was fairly well publicized when it happened. I can do some searching or you can to confirm it happened. That doesn't sound like a "hands off" owner to me. One of the 5 was Peppers. Maybe that ties into the keep him at any cost policy that we applied to him. All I'm saying is it's possible that posters on this board are wrong about who's calling the shots in some cases. Don't always jump to the easy conclusions. Sometimes, they're wrong.

He's done that most years, get over yourself already. Jake was the starter then, no sh!t!!!!!

You don't have to look anything up, because I know exactly what you are talking about, and it didn't happen just once.

Get a grip man, dude, ma'am, whatever you are. JAKE WAS THE STARTER then, would have looked totally shitty, not to mention what it would do for team morale had Jake not been invited.

Who was he supposed to invite in place of the starting QB???? Sir Purr??

That is your basis as to WHY you THINK JR, is behind Jake starting as long as he did, and not Fox?????

WOW.....you blow the scale on this one.

What signs?

Signs that Moore may start next year

Edit: Another from the team site

Mason's Minutes: QBs know they must go with flow

Excerpts:

It was hard to ignore the difference in the passing game's production in the final five games after Jake Delhomme fractured a finger on his throwing hand. An 8-to-18 touchdown-to-interception ratio in Weeks 1-12 for Delhomme U-turned into an 8-to-1 ratio for Matt Moore in December and January.

The fans obviously noticed; the roar for Moore during pregame introductions at the season finale was arguably the loudest for anyone on the starting offense. Such a reaction was understandable to Delhomme, who has seen and experienced both sides of such a situation.

But for those watching from a distance, expectations are understandable. During Weeks 13-17, the only quarterback who started at least three games and a had a better ratng than Moore's 104.9 rating was San Diego's Philip Rivers, who logged an 111.5 rating in that span.

Further, Moore was ninth in yardage per attempt (7.9 yards), tied for ninth in touchdown and passes and -- most significantly -- first in interception percentage, with only one interception in 126 throws in December and January.

And for those who disdain the passing numbers and focus on the winning percentage, there was only one quarterback who had a better record as a starter than Moore the last five weeks: the afore-mentioned Rivers, the only man with a higher rating.

While 2009 was a struggle for Delhomme, his long-term résumé remains that of a winner; his 58-40 career record as Carolina's starter offers simple but meaningful evidence. But his 4-7 mark in 2009 was his worst.

"We weren't consistent in the pass game," Delhomme said. "That really affected us a good bit. Certain things led to problems that we had. I probably pressed a whole lot playing quarterback this year, and certainly that's not a good thing."

For now, Delhomme can only wait for redemption, while Moore must work to ensure his momentum doesn't dissipate between now and the summer.

"It doesn't mean anything if you go out in training camp and can't hit anybody," he said.

There's a tip of the hat to Delhomme within, but it sounds pretty much like they know Moore is the future.
