Agent: Peppers waiting for Panthers' move

If we are smart, Hurney will sign him for 5 years, pay him 30 million up front to entice him to sign long term rather than take the tag, pay him little in 2011 in case of a lock out and backload the remainder in case he falls apart with roster bonuses etc which aren't guaranteed.. Give him a deal like Hanesworth- looks amazing on paper and makes him the highest paid guy on paper to stroke his ego but realistically he won't get more than 50 million of it. We will count all 30 million in 2010 instead of prorating it so he has a much smaller cap number going forward when it is reinstituted.

Sounds to me like Peppers is trying to play nice and not get the franshise tag.

Now that I have time to look back I think everything that went down last year and the final result was in fact what Peppers wanted. I think he wanted to be tagged, make 17 million, and then be a free agent this year, the uncapped year. Now, I don't think he really cares what happens as long as he get the best deal possible. And really, I don't blame him.

Sounds like to me Pep disliked Jake, and is happy with Moore

Of course. It earned its own thread

Did you see Pep running down the sidelined when Stew broke free vs. NO

Someone said something about it but I didn't catch it. I watch every single game and can barely remember stuff from the games though, so I probably did.

Anyhow, my post was sort of agreeing with that notion. It seems like Moore playing had a big impact on his attitude. However, the defense started playing better leading up to that, as well as some other stuff going on within the team. So, it could ultimately have nothing to do with Moore (or that just be one factor) but in my opinion it definitely has something to do with his attitude and how he has been playing.

LOL at folks who try to turn everything into a hate Jake thread.

He wanted to leave because he didn't like Trgo and Fox's old scheme.

He wants to play in a system which utilizes his talent and Meeks system does. Plus he enjoyed playing this year and likes all the young talent we are amassing on the D line.

Never said I hated Jake (yes, I realize this is addressed to more than just me).

However, I do find it interesting how Peppers' attitude improved around the same time as Moore came in. I never said they were surely coorelated, only that I felt like they were.

Last year, with the difficult schedule looming and coming off one of the worst games of the decade, any player can be forgiven for wanting to jump ship, especially one closing in on the winter of his career. Now, there's hope for the franchise in 2010, and a much more manageable schedule. If he stays, there is the strong chance of having a career year here, getting to a third consecutive pro bowl, and possibly getting a ring. Any player would be wise to stay in that situation, especially on the cusp of an uncapped year where he can earn the bulk of his money in one shot with a front loaded contract.

He'll sign. If not, I'll never make a comment about the business of football again.

agreed. i like jake a lot just not as a qb

it seemed like everyone started playing completely different with moore behind center.

proof of this = jarrett scoring a touchdown

Hey, look at how much practice time Jarrett and Moore would have had together. For some reason, when I think of them, I only picture a 1950's sitcom of them passing the ball around with a dialogue such as:

Moore (as he throws) : "Hey Dwayne, maybe this is gonna be our year. Gee whiz!"

Jarrett (as he catches) : "Gee willakers, Matt, I hope so."
