Panther's offense

Jackofalltrades

Recommended Posts

When the season first began, who would have imagined that the Carolina Panthers with their QB coming off of Tommy John surgery, star WR receiver suspended the first two games, a reshuffled OL, 35 yr old WR-2 and an unproven RB now carrying the load with a rookie as the back up would finish 10th in the league in scoring?

What if I told you would do that with an offensive line riddled by injury throughout the course of the season?

Though the Fox style of taking the foot off the gas with a "comfortable" lead was a hinderance at times, this offense got the job done when they had to and exceeded my expectations.

Not enough credit is given to Davidson, Skipper, Magazu and the Offensive Unit- particularly the Line and the Fullback.

I can't say enough about the O, if we can elevate the play of the D just a little there will be no stopping the Panthers.

I'm happy. Now I just hope that we dont let up in the post season.

What gets me is re-watching the Bronco game, even with a 20 point lead Jake was sling'n it downfield trying to break their back.

I just hope they go lights out in the post season. I hope we run DeAngelo Williams straight to a SB trophy. :D

I agree.

Was just talking about this this morning with a Co-Worker, and me and King Klong talk about it yesterday.

Williams has turned in an AMAZING player the second half of this season, and even better Stewart is showing even more promise.

King has been solid, and Rosario is growing.

Our limiting factor (minus Jake *DONT GO THERE*) has been the #2/3 WR spots still. But as someone said in another thread, when your goal is only to throw the ball 20 times tops a #2 getting 5ish catchs and your #1 getting 10 is pretty nice, and we have come close to that alot I think.

Old fashioned, smashmouth football.

Brees nearly broke Marino's record...but none of it matters as they watch from home from here on out.

I'll take my unspectacular QB who knows how to win games and a record setting ground attack any day.

I too would like to see more involvement from the secondary recievers, but Jake's going to go where he's comfortable and it's obviously working. I can't wait to see what tricks Davidson has up his sleeve for the play offs.

You get the feeling we have been holding back a couple weeks too ?

All season really. We have 2 new receivers, a QB who played his first full year in the offense, a 1st year starting RB, a rookie back up RB and we've improved as the season went on. I think we we're installing the offense over the course of the entire season and still have some stuff we've worked on, but not used in games.

alot of our success came, with the fact that we were never too for behind in most games if not leading, which allowed our ground game to eat up clock and tire out defenses, which is a great way to win playoff games in the cold. But you gotta get a fast start. LET'S GO O!!!

We will lose if he "gets too comfortable" with a lead in the playoffs.

They need to go out there and play as if the other team slapped their momma, try to kill em.

This is actually one reason I like the loss to the Giants and the come from behind performance by the Saints. These could and should serve as well timed reality checks for the team.

I hope so, I would rather run up the score than lose obviously.

    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
