The Lost Conversation

Jeff King is the best tight end of the bunch. Gary Barnidge is the best WR and Rosario has the best hands and highest upside considering he can also block pretty well. I don't understand the folks hating on King. He's as integral to our run game as Brad Hoover. He's an extra offensive lineman with the ability to sneak a few catches. But yet again, people are more impressed with a 40 yard catch than blocking for a 200 yard day on the ground. Go ask Double Trouble who they want there. Not saying we don't need another vertical threat out there, but looking for that at the TE position is misguided in a ball control offense that is predicated on having two of the best running backs in football running out of strong formations.

IF King is let go, it's only because it's a money situation and not a play situation. He's the starter here unless and until Rosario picks up the blocking assignments well enough to be an every down TE. I wouldn't be against converting Barnidge to a big physical wide receiver to do the slot work and be an extra blocker on the outside, but he just doesn't have the upper body strength to move bodies the way King does. That may change in the future, but that's where we are today.

:iagree: IMO King is expendable. We can bring in another TE that primarily blocks and contributes occassionally to the passing game via the draft. I won't be suprised if Fox's loyalties gets in the way of this logic.

I agree but King still is pretty darn good at the position. He's reliable like Wiggins was for us. Also, if Gary and Rosario develop their blocking abilities more, we could use all of them well for short yardage play actions and such.

I was very dissapointed in how little we used them down the stretch. Rosario and Barnidge have the ability to put up top-10 TE numbers if they were on a colts-like offense.
