Do you think the Panthers will move?

Wait, we have a hockey team in this "Raleigh" place you speak of?

Something tells me Jerry Richardson considered all his options and decided back in 95 that Charlotte was the best place in NC for the team. Since then, Charlotte has grown exponentially... so it's an ever better place for the team then it was in 95. Raleigh has grown as well, but nothing like Charlotte.

By my count, that's three pro sports teams that chose Charlotte over Raleigh - must be more than coincidence, right? No offense, but the NHL is one step above pro bowling when it comes to popularity. It's clear that when a major pro sports team chooses a city in NC, they choose Charlotte.

MLB baseball chose the Triad over Charlotte though. To bad we got some cheap idiots up here.

Um, he said Raleigh couldnt support both an NFL team and an NHL team because the triangle only has a little over a million people in the metro area. Charlotte only has 600,000 more like you said but yet they support two pro teams anyway. Soooooo obviously raleigh could support two teams too since both areas have a small metropolitan area.

A) Learn how to subtract.

B) I don't care who said what. I was talking about what you said about the Charlotte metro area only.

If they move itll probably be to Raleigh. The fans there do a much better job supporting the hurricanes than the fans here do the panthers or bobcats. Charlotte fans are just too laid back and fairweather to support a pro team. I fully expect this to happen when Jerry finally sells the team.

He's trust trying to piss everyone here off...f'n trolls...

He thinks 1,600,000 people is small. I guess You think its large. Here is an idea then spanky.....fight it out with him.

My point was there isnt a huge difference in size between the two areas in general. You would have to include the triad in the conversation since Greensboro and winston salem are just a little over an hour from raleigh. Many fans would come from there to see the panthers play as well.

That's the stupidest idea I have heard in a while,we have a team called the CAROLINA Panthers, how would Raleigh get it's own NFL team?

Because it isnt convient for everyone. Person from Raleigh has to drive over 2 hours to get to the game. Just because Richardson sold something to the NFL at the time doesnt mean it cant change. Like I said earlier NC itself is the 10th largest state in population. Just a matter of time before Raleigh gets a team.

Hockey teams play 42 home games a year including on week nights. None of them are ever full unless its on a saturday night or a playoff game. It would be the same way if the NFL played that many games a year. Canes are the worst team in hockey this year but every time I go the place is rockin! Its louder there still than BOA stadium is at full capacity when the panthers are winning.

Btw, The steelers were 26th in attendence last year. I guess they dont have a very good fan base then

Wrong as usual. The Canadians for example seat over 21000 and have an attendance % of 100%. The Chicago blackhawks seat 20500 but due to standing room only are at 106% of capacity so far this year. Based on average attendance- the Hurricanes are 25th out of 30th. When they base it on attendance as a percentage of capacity (what percentage sold out) they are 24th out of 30. Behind such towns as Columbus, Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee.

Most Northern cities where hockey is big, usual fill between 95% and 103% of capacity every game. In the south it is much less. The triangle is a college basketball area and little else. They can't support hockey let alone baseball or football.
