Yeah of course Davis and Beason, but they go without saying. I hear people say all the time "trade Dwill or Smitty for a 1st rounder!!!!!!".. makes me rage every time.

Good point. I didn't think about it that way. However, in that aspect, I guess that's because they just look at the offense, like most football fans.

I'd take a 1 for Williams in a heartbeat. It isn't going to happen though. I love him but I wouldn't think twice about it.

why just a 1?

we "took a chance" on him, he matured and has proven he can carry a team and change a game.

you dont trade that for just a 1, a guy who is not proven, and you have to take a chance on again...

at least a 1 & 3 or players and picks...

I don't think anyone would ever offer that, ever for a runningback.

Just my opinion, based on the way the league has trended recently, of all positions you consider giving up at their peak, it would be running back. I know it's not a popular opinion, and he is one of my favorite players, but to me it's a smart managment decision.

"The Lions need to explore every avenue and take a look at trade possibilities for guys such as Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams or Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey. It could even be a post-draft move, so any picks you give up could come from 2011"

You do realize that this is merely a beat writer saying what he thinks the Lions should do to fix their God Awful team....don't you?

Like others have said, this is nothing but the speculation of a beat writer and will almost certainly not happen.

With that said, there is one intriguing element to the idea. With Stewart proving he has legitimate #1 ability, and Sutton looking like he could be a very solid #2, it wouldn't be unreasonable for the team to at least discuss dealing DW for a high pick(s). So, lets pretend Detroit does offer the #2 pick for Williams, it could be a move that does make the overall team better. After all, if the Rams take a QB as some are predicting, then that would leave Suh available at #2. And imagine adding Suh to our DL with Peppers (assuming he stays), Brown and the rest of the talent. It would almost certainly produce an extremely dominant and disruptive DL that would improve our defense by leaps and bounds.

As stated, it probably won't happen, and I doubt Detroit would even be willing to part with the number two, but if they were, it could be interesting.

Not a chance in hell. DWill would get demolished behind that disgrace of an o-line. The #2 pick would be nice, but I'm completely against trading these players: DWill, Stewart, Smitty, any of our starting o-line, etc.

we have 3 very nice tight ends. i am sure we could offer one up for slaughter if need be.
