You got to choose yours though. Major advantage.

I'm choosing my teams based on the arguments I've been making. Teams with elite QB's for me, and teams with good to mediocre QB's for Panthers55. I'm also giving him the Packers, Chargers, and Cowboys, which are extremly hot teams with very good QB's. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt with those.

Packers and Chargers will be in the Superbowl. I'd rethink those choices.

But you aren't me so :P

Well like I said Rodgers and Rivers are definitely top tier QB's. Rodgers has put himself in that class over the last 2 years. So if any of those teams win, it doesn't prove his argument fully, but like I said, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The bottom line is not who is elite or not elite but who plays that way in the playoffs. Some guys come up big others don't. I am waiting to see Peyton this playoffs. he has yet to even come close to his regular season performances in the playoffs.

And thanks for the Cowboys we all know that they are terrific in the playoffs. LOL When they play Philly I will be rooting for McNabb to come up big.

This stat says defense wins championships--10.0! What is a perfect ten? Well, this isn't a one-to-ten scale more like a 0-156 scale and it happens to be Joe Flacco's QB rating yesterday versus the Patriots. Yep, the game was dominated by defense and a solid running game. It is possible to make a deep run in the playoffs with a solid run game and a stifling defense including a QB who had a 10 QB rating versus the Patriots in Foxboro.

Look at the Jets? Need I say more? Sanchez has been horrible this season.

My point is I don't think we need to tie up money in an elite QB, just lock up a very good one and save millions towards other positions.

We still have lots of games to play but this weekend showed that having a good defense was the ticket particularly when it's cold. The arizona Packers games was ridiculous. I guess it shows that when neither team's defense shows up then you need a quarterback who can throw the ball around.

Neither team could get to the QB, save a few in stances...namely the Dansby fumble recovery. Outside of a few plays, each QB had the time and space to pick apart VERY weak, no EXTEREMLY weak, secondary units.

p.s. That fumble by Rodgers was the "tuck rule" if I've ever seen it. I'm not saying I agree with the rule...hate it actually, but he was bringing the ball back down when it was knocked loose.

Didnt Dasnby catch it in the air? So it doesn't matter if it was a fumble or a pass.

I can't recall any run's that have won a Superbowl but I remember some great catches that have won a few. True there is a game or two in the playoffs you have to establish the run and/or stop the run. I'll take the QB who can take over a game. How many teams have won a superbowl with a dominant running back? If you dont have a shut down defense, you better have yourself a helluva QB. If I had a choice of any player to start an NFL franchise it would be Peyton Manning.

Yeah his one Superbowl really seals the deal. If it were all about the quarterback he would have 4 or 5 by now. Problem with Manning is the same one we had with Peppers. If you spend over 10% of your cap on one player you have to make sacrifices elsewhere. Sometimes those sacrifices come abck to haunt you in the playoffs.

Is that why the Colts seem to finish 12-4 every year? I would rather be held for ransom by P. Manning than Shakey Jake and I think most would tend to agree. Without looking I would say of the 12 playoff teams, 10 have their QB making around 10% of the cap.

In Carolina we prefer to give 10% of our cap to a conundrum wrapped in an enigma defensive end.

Well the main argument here is a team that doesn't have an elite QB has no shot at a super bowl ring, not an early round wild card match up win. Yeah Baltimore did win with their running game and defense, but heck, that was against the Pats, who probably have one of the worst defenses in the playoffs this year. Do you really think Joe Flacco's QB rating of 10 is going to win them 3 more games and that lombardi trophy? The good thing with the Jets and Ravens is they got off to early leads and their run game was effective throughout. Now they have the Chargers and the Colts coming up, and I guarantee you if Sanchez and Flacco want to win those games, they're going to have to rely on their arms if they have any shot. Yeah, I'll take my chances with Rivers and Manning.
