Cowher / Fox Wednesday Edition

.................If people want to be short-sighted and hire another Seifert, then we are setting ourselves up to relive a much maligned history. I have no desire to return to those days.

Just remember... this is what people have asked for

Some people are really scarred from the Seifert era. So what does this mean??? The Panther franchise should never hire another coach and keep Fox for life because the next coach might be horrible?? Therefore we need to be satisfied with only 3 winning season in 8. It makes you wonder if Tampa had a similar philosphy would they ever won their Superbowl? They moved on from DUNGY (A great coach).

The Panther franchise can not and should not do nothing with a head coach because they are afraid of what happened when they hired Seifert.

Why would Cleveland fire Mangini after the Browns won their last four games for him?

Holmgren is going to install a WCO offense and 4-3 defense. Needs to be sure Mangini is the right guy for that. Additionally Mangini is reportedly tough to work with, abrasive and not a players coach. All of these qualities are almost diametrically opposite of Holmgren's personality and approach.

Also, I would like to add that I think Fox can appease alot of people(including myself) if he puts a vote of confidence into Matt Moore. He don't have to necessarily say "Matt Moore will be the starter in 2010." I just think by Hurney/Fox continually putting their confidence in Delhomme, they are sending the wrong message to the fanbase and maybe some players.

Also, the fact that JR hasn't said anything about Fox is alarming. I think Fox is the only head coach in this situation of uncertainity besides Tom Cable.

If Fox is making personnel decisions like that, we won't ever make it. And what makes people think that Fox won't start Delhomme next season or suddenly make necessary changes when needed. Fox has said he would have a hard time benching Delhomme and the only reason he wasn't starting was because of injury. He also has a philosophy of starters not losing their jobs to injury.

This is what Delhomme has said recently

Also

and this is what Matt Moore has said

Now why would Delhomme sound so confident and Matt Moore having "no expectations" even though he completely outplayed Delhomme. I mean...a young guy outplayed a vet...other franchises like the Tennessee and San Francisco have already decided to move on and name their young guys as starters for next year.

This is what Hurney had to say.

Now if Hurney(and essentially Fox) still feel the same about Jake as they did when they gave him that ridiculous contract. Don't you think it is leaning towards the fact that Fox plans on starting Jake next year; based on the contract and their belief?

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say the problem this year hasn't been the coaching. Hurney is to blame for the stupid ars Delhomme extension. Judging by that quote he seems to be the biggest reason. Fox had to back away from the "He gives us the best chance to win" line.

This defense is playing lights out. He seems to be giving Davidson and Meeks room to coach and the results have been great. Both units were playing great football despite missing so many starters.

I don't think we can accurately gauge Fox's talent when we're faced with wholesale injuries to starters every other year. Your beef may really be with Gary Simmons. I do however blame him for not pulling Jake otherwise he's done a good job.

Good morning everyone!

After reading the thread yesterday, I noticed three things about people who wanted Fox to stay.

1.) They fear a new coach will dismantle this team (mainly Cowher) and fire our coordinators/let players go

2.) They only remember the last 4 or 5 games...and not the whole season. Also, they believe Fox will change

3.) Due to Fox's track record, he is due a winning season.

If this is the best excuses people can come up, then we need to kick Fox's ass out if we can. People need to take the whole season into account...not the last quarter of the season. Do you REALLY believe we can win a Super Bowl with Fox as coach. I mean REALLY?!

I mean how do you dismantle a team where players are under contract? Its not like he is going to get rid of Jon Beason, Deangelo, Gamble, Stewart, Gross etc...Those guys have contracts that the organization must honor. Its not like he has a set roster in his head and those are the guys he wants.

The only moves that I could see Cowher coming in an making personnel-wise would be:

Releasing Kemo - Due 9 million before TC this year I think.

Letting Pep walk unless he gives us a hometown deal

Letting either TD or Marshall walk

Bringing in a DC that can run a 3-4

Signing Casey Hampton to play NT

Honestly...other than letting Thomas Davis and Marshall walk I wouldn't be extremely upset at any of those moves.

This is the #1 reason that I want this FO out of the picture. I don't want there to be a shot in hell that Jake Delhomme is the starting QB next year...

If no one responds to him then that is what happens. The post I quoted will give him the forum fuel he needs for at least another week of trolling.

Nah....it is just too easy and enjoyable to expose the little worm as the loser we all know he is.

I feel sorry for him. He is living in his parent's basement and does not have a friend in the world. We should all give him the pity that he so much deserves.

First of all if you think that Fox and Hurney speak their true feelings to the media, you are slower than I thought. Secondly the Hurney quote being used was right after jake went on IR and before Moore had done anything. If you look at the Delhomme and Moore quotes you have Delhomme lobbying for a role and Moore doing his best job to get along and remain humble. Reading anything more into it is ridiculous.

And for the 50th time at least, Lets assume Jake does start next year, He will be on the shortest leash ever. Once he is taken out next season it will be for good. If you had any sense, you would hope that Jake gets put in game 1, screws up and gets pulled for good. How much did Peete play after he got pulled?

Moore has given us a great option in that we know he can play. If he does what he needs to do in order to clean up some issues there is no reason he won't start for us for the next 5-10 years. It isn't as if the front office didn't know that even if Jake played well that he only had 1 or 2 years left. This just means we might have found the heir apparent in the ranks instead of having to look elsewhere.
