Browns targeting Fox, and we could get Picks!

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but it looks as if Fox may not be the top replacement in Cleveland... Mornhinweg could actually be the leader but then again, its just a rumor...

Mornhinweg= Great coordinator, terrible head coach.

Earlier today the guys on the Sirius Blitz were speculating that he would be the OC in Cleveland.

This rumor has about as much basis for truth as Cowher to Carolina because he has a house in the state.

Not true...

Fox is a proven commodity, not some OC or DC that has never been a HC before. He has a method for taking a team from the cellar to a good team. He could be really good for the Browns which is why I think they are going to try and get him.

I want a change because we have a chance to get one of the best coaches in the game (Cowher) and because I feel like at some point to get the most out of your players they need a new face.

For those that are "scared" of losing Fox I say this...aren't you just as scared that Jake Delhomme could be starting next year?? I rest my case...

he'd actually be a pretty good option not considering what we'd have to pay him

he's currently the highest paid assistant in the league, so he won't come cheap

I think he would take Matt Moore and our offense to the next level, we have comparable talent to Dallas especially in the run game so I think we could get even better, not sure who he would bring in for defense

For my part, I'm not planning on getting excited over this. The fact that they have the same agent could go either way. Could mean LaMonte is trying to broker a partnership, but could just as easily mean that he's trying to leverage one against the other. If that's the strategy, I doubt it works on Richardson.

Worth remembering that they still need a GM in Cleveland. Before anyone jumps on it, I doubt they go after Hurney. There are lots of other candidates. Look at the Seattle search for evidence of that, and take note that Bob LaMonte also has clients involved in that story. If one of them doesn't get the Seattle job, he could go for the Cleveland gig (meaning LaMonte would represent the whole tree). Holmgren might well want to get a GM in place before deciding on the coaching job.

And a quick word about Cowher: His decision to wait one more year might mean he wants to coach in Carolina, but the Panthers aren't the only team that was expected to drop a coach and didn't. It's also possible he could also be holding out for the Cowboys (or even for someone else).
