Browns targeting Fox, and we could get Picks!

The only problem with hiring Cowher would be he would want to assemble and bring in his own staff. Meeks, Davidson, et. al. are all under contract through next year. Wouldn't the Panthers have to pay them all off to leave so Cowher could bring in his staff? I read that if Fox goes then either Meeks, Davidson or possibly Skipper would be promoted to replace him. The Panthers don't want to pay a lot of money for a coach right now with the CBA not in place, either Fox or Cowher. Hiring Cowher and extending Fox would both be costly and I doubt the Panthers would do either at the moment.

Fox will be in Carolina and our safety net of Cower Power is going bide his time for one more year. With the cake schedule we have Fox will either win the superbowl or be fired and our rebuilding process will begin with Cower.

Think Richardson would fire Fox if he wins NFC South next season?

Not firing fox now, with our players and next years schedule means another 3-5 yr Contract with Panthers for Fox, IMO

First of all Einstein you wouldn't fire him, his contract has expired. Secondly if we win the NFC South next year and go deep in the playoffs you would have to consider an extension given we have won the division 2 out of the last 3 years. It would depend on lots of factors, obviously you are a hater so making a reasoned argument surely won't change your mind so I won't waste the time.

The only thing that scares me about Fox as our HC next season is his refusal to make the necessary change. If he is back, I see a 90% chance that either Delhomme or McCown is the starter. Fox likes both guys and has proven over and over that he is reluctant to make the right move.

If Delhomme were gone and Moore is the starter, I think Fox would be great next season.

If you think a little, it is an unreasonable fear about Jake. What we know now that we didn't know 6 weeks ago is that Moore is pretty good in game situations. His reported effort in the film room and in practice were supposedly suspect. I was listening to Sirius this morning and although the conversation was about Jamarcus Russell, the quote is appropo. "If your quarterback is not the hardest worker and most dedicated to do whatever it takes to win, he won't be perceived as a leader by the players and management".

If Moore wants to be the unquestioned starter he needs to do what Williams did going into 2008. Change his persona, show his leadership, spend the time in the film room and practicing extra. Show by example this is his team. Make it so there is no question who the starter should be in every aspect of the game.

The ball is in Moore's hands. I think there is a 75% chance Moore starts based on this year but the ball is in his court. It is his job to win or lose.

Day 2 report

Fox is "very interested" in the possibility, according to a league source.

2. Panthers owner Jerry Richardson would be willing to arrive at a contract settlement to get out of the $6 million owed Fox for the 2010 season.

3. Richardson, seeing a potential owners' lockout in 2011, would not replace Fox with Bill Cowher, but might promote from within
