Wow...Ron Meeks is 32nd?

while I like Meeks the article is slightly right about his rush defense. I love the way turnovers is his priority and I love his passing defense but he does need to step it up on the rushing. We are ranked 22 in rushing stops....not good at all. Of course everything needs to be considered such as no DTs, peppers broke hand, no Davis ETC. I guess considering all that it's not so bad.

I looked at their stats a lil while ago and there's no doubt about it, rushing was there biggest weakness. Most of the time the Colts were high 20s or low 30s as far as their rush yds allowed ranking. Everything else (pts., yds. pass yds.) was around 14th or much higher in most cases.

i don't know about 32nd... but it does seem that meeks' system relies on having the best athletes consistently making outstanding plays on their own. At the end of the season it started to work. But the schemes and positions he puts the players in does seem vanilla and simple for the offense to understand.

If it's complicated for the offense it's most likely complicated for the defense too.

Simple defenses aren't always bad.

How can they put a DC at 32 when his defense finished 8th in the league in total defense.

Because people love the Cowgirls more than us & the fact we're a small market team doesn't help too. Not to mention the writer is on meth big time. Bastard!

I feel like sports writers often just make up their panthers information, because they have no idea what is going on in Carolina.

Stats aren't always THE barometer to go by judging any one's or any team's performance. In the 2006 season, when the Colts won the SB, their run defense was getting lots of attention because of the yards they were giving up, yet, they continued to win. Then in the last couple games of that season, and thru the playoffs, their defense absolutely shut down the run. Part of all this is 'timing is everything'.

I thought our run defense did well as the season wore on, forcing the other teams to pass when they ordinarily wouldn't, which played well into our hands. The turnovers we forced proves that.

I agree. Just pointing out that's prolly why people never give their D that much credit.
