Report: Cowher meeting with Bills again today

I don't want a 3-4 defense.

Me either. And I don't want to wait 13 yrs. for a SB ring. Screw how many Playoffs he won: it's the SB we're talking about. Why else fans want Fox gone? Because he haven't gotten us a SB ring. And the reason Cowher won is because they kept him around forever. That would be like doing the same with keeping Fox that long & he probably would win a SB. :P

Even if Cowher were to come here, he probably would have no reason to switch to a 3-4.

He ran the 3-4 defenses in KC and Pitt, but in both cases the 3-4 was already in place.

I don't remember Chuck Knoll ever running a 3-4 with the Steelers. In fact, he was one of John Fox's mentors and they won those Superbowls with 4-3 defenses.

Once he saw Beason in action, any question of switching to a 3-4 would go out the door IMHO. Although I am sure he would still use it on certain downs.

The Steelers have been running a 3-4 since the early 80's. They ran a 4-3 in the glory years in the 70's.

I guess I'll take your word for it. I didn't pay that much attention to them after Bradshaw left (mainly because they weren't on TV around here nearly as much). Still though, if Cowher was a 4-3 guy, there is no reason to believe he wouldn't have brought it back.
