I have heard you guys mention a slew of coaches to replace Fox, but have not heard Shottys name called. If the Saints were in the need for a coach I would not mind entertaining this idea. He is a great coach, but has not been able to win the big one but my hunch is he is due. What do you guys think? Just curious, I know as a Saints fan I would not like it if this were to happen.

schottenheimer is a awesome coach but he is a front office nightmare he has been run out of town almost everywhere cause he cant get along with this bosses and it does not help he has a rep for not winning the big games....that said i would love him here

He no longer wants to coach.

That said his style is very much like Fox's.

We don't need a rah rah guy, we need a tactical, level headed coach. Fox and Schotty are perfect guys to rebuild a roster with, but I am not so sure that they can consistently take teams to the next level.

Look at us, and the Chargers, as measuring sticks.

He is on Sirius NFL radio. About 2 months ago callers were asking him about coaching. He was pretty definite that he had no interest in becoming a head coach again. Said he would not do it.

Yeah. I think he is enjoying retirement so much that he doesn't want to come back. Plus, he isn't getting any younger. If he does come back, he would likely be close to 70 when 2012 start if the 2011 lockup happend. We need coaches that aren't that old like him.

      Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.

      Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
