peppers to make a decision in a couple of days

Who cares. Let him walk. Get top dollar for him.

The insane amount of money and bonuses Peppers will bring will help us just as much if not more in rebuilding areas of the team than Peppers alone. If used correctly.

I agree.

I like Peppers and think he's an amazing athlete, but I don't want the Panthers to make him the highest defensive player.

The money would go along way in other areas of the team, and I still think Charles Johnson can be a force.

Now, if Peppers wants to sign a reasonable long-term deal, then welcome back.

Only way to do that is to tag him again. If we tag him again and don't get many offers or he blocks a trade, guess who's back in Charlotte going from overpaid to stupidly overpaid for another season?

Tricky situation.

You do realize that part of the reason they extended Delhomme was to free up enough cash to tag Peppers, right?

Yes, but we could have done other things than extending Delhomme to a massive contract...he wouldn't even be a Panther right now if he didn't get that contract. What could have been...

That said, Peppers ain't coming back. Everette Brown, Tyler Brayton, Charles Johnson.

ehhh....the peppers tag came first. the jake extension was to free up enough money for draft picks.

still, peppers tag made the jake extension necessary/urgent.

If it's me, i let him walk. F him

WTF man?

What is with the sentiment of "F" anyone who has played for the Panthers, aside from the obvious folks in our history like Carruth...

What the hell has Pep ever done to cause issues on or off the field?

This is a business, and if you're one of the top players in the league at your position, you have every right to think you should be payed and played accordingly...

Pep could say "F" you to all the fans and go out there and consistently fall down on the line and give us an ultimatum of not playing at all until he is traded... Either way, he gets the same paycheck...

None of the Panthers owe us poo, yet when the business aspect of it comes up, you want to say "F" them...

That's fine, when the players refuse to cave in to a CBA, I guess that will be their "F you" to the fans and to the owners... Then you'll cry some more about it...

It's because of that very sentiment that Pep doesn't like going out on public appearances and such... One minute, you'll be anonymously slamming him on an internet forum, and the next, you'd be kissing his ass wanting him to sign something for your kid...

Pep isn't as dumb as people will want you to believe... He knows how people are and knows that regardless of what you think, he's still one of the biggest threats on defense in the NFL... He knows it, the Panthers front office knows it, and 31 other teams know it...

Yet fans somehow think we'd be better off getting rid of him, Williams or Stewart, or even Steve Smith...

If we had a couple Super Bowl wins during his time here, 90% of the opposition to him remaining a Panther would not exist...

I say that because he got more than enough money this year, it would have been comical if it wasn't quite so sickening. Then he's not sure what he wants. Do i stay or go? What do i do? Do i wanna play here? Where should i go?

If you don't know that you WANT to be here hands down, then you don't need to be here. It's just that simple.

As far as a business, yes it is. And he's been paid extremely well for his services. I couldn't give 2 !shits how he feels about whether he gets his feelings hurt or whatever. Man up. You got paid. Criticism comes with the terorrity. I don't want him here if he doesn't want to be. That's not asking much. Right now, as before, it doesn't look like he wants to be here.

Obviously get high dollar for him.

What I meant by letting him walk is letting him sniff out the highest bidder and not try and stop him from leaving.

In other words not wasting an incredibly just-plain-stupid amount of money on a single player. Especially when we suffer in other areas to the point where there is ZERO depth.

I would hate to see Peppers leave. He will get a deal. He admits that he liked playing for Meeks this past season and he played well down the stretch. At least there is value there, unlike Jake.

There are too many factors at play right now. John Fox is still up in the air IMO. With Pete Caroll leaving USC, there much speculation that an NFL coach will go down there, presenting more openings in the NFL for John Fox, who BTW has value as a head coach, no matter how we see him. He has taken us through the best years of our franchise and really elevated us to a contender status.

I don't think Peppers and Fox have the greatest relationship, nor do I think Pep and Jake have a cozy relationship. The actions of Fox and Jake will determine Peppers decision
