i really fucking wish this would be the way the Panthers organization was run

I've actually been on the "Fire Fox" bandwagon for a while now, but I'd like to think for more realistic reasons.

Do I want a team that's committed to winning? Absolutely, and anyone who thinks they're fine with going 8-8 is kidding themselves. Professional players and coaches have a lot of pride, and losing never sits well.

With that said, the whole "we lost, therefore somebody's gotta pay" mindset is a little silly.

You make changes to players and coaches when the situation warrants it, not to appease fans or to make sure somebody gets punished for a bad play or a bad season.

It's often true in the real world pro game that the player who royally screwed up on one play is the guy who makes a big play the next. Likewise, the coaching staff that led a team to a 4-12 record this season is often the same one that leads them to a solid record - and sometimes postseason victory - the following year.

So no, unless you're playing Madden, you don't go benching people willy nilly or firing someone just because you had a losing season. That kind of reactionary thinking just leads to constant rebuilding. If you want a real world example of a team that acts out these ideals, head on over to Oakland.

With all that said, I'll repeat that I believe Fox should be fired because the combo of he and the Panthers looks to have gone as far as it can. Best thing now is for both sides to have a fresh start.

Panther55 is on fiyaaaaa. It's like he is surrounded by a gang and is throwing haymakers everywhere. I like it :)

Too bad he can't land a single one

it's not that hard to make excuses

hence why people often would rather go that route than actually accepting responsibility.

Has Fox and the Panthers run it's course, or is it just Jake and the Panthers..obviously his message isn't lost on the team or they would have mailed it in like the Redskins..we don't really know how far he can get the team with QB that has better potential then Jake(hopefully)..so I"m guessing this is why the FO is allowing him to come back if he wants..

I won't freak out if he leaves or anything though; change on the other hand can be refreshing for the players too..some of them might not want him to leave because they are comfortable in a routine and not necessarily seeing new ways to get better..

but you have to remember that's how John Fox and this organization likes it. In front of the media, they don't expose too much of their emotions. Fox would never throw a coach or player under the bus. But behind closed doors and when the paparazzi lights aren't flashing, I bet there is anger, disappointment, and some heated discussion that we just aren't aware of.

obviously not enough

Agreed. How many teams would have already conceived to the fans that the Starting QB that threw 8TDs and 18 InTs in 11 games would not be starting next year or even on the team. And that the QB that threw 8TDs and 2 INTs in 5 games will be the QB of the future?

I want just a little passion from this FO, Tell me something! But instead they come across as arrogant and don't really care about you and want you think. Just give me your money and shut the hell up. Now I'm not saying they need to bend over backwards like the Cleveland Browns do, But throw a bone f**kers.

Here is an example I thought of last night. After the Bills game, just about EVERYBODY thought the season was over (which it was). Jake Delhomme single-handily loss us the game and Fox refused to bench him. I remember Marty Hurney coming out and saying how disappointed he was that we loss the way we did at home. Geez...can we get a little bit of that instead of crap like this!

No one can deny this franchise is passive as. Honestly, we don't expect greatness from ourselves. We accept mediocrity because we're scared of complete failure. Yet, we're scared to take that next step and get out of our comfort level. So we're stuck in the middle...

People are saying they are glad no one is talking. All that is doing is creating a rift between the franchise and fans.

Doesn't matter, we were talking about teams and coaching over the same period that Fox coached.

If we started off 5-0 and finished 3-8, Fox would be gone. We finished going in opposite directions to the Giants.

Fox has been lucky. He has a good year then a bad year but has excuses. He starts out poorly but gets it together and makes the year not look as bad. He has a way of rallying his troops to win for him when he is in trouble and has admitted he likes the sound of 8-8 better than 7-9.

Horseshit! If that's not mediocrity what is?

He has deserved to be here as long as he has, we are a team to record with now instead of a laughing stock, (and I appreciate that) but a trend has formed and it will continue. Fox is to predictable, stubborn, pissed this year away holding on to Jake's past, and again did just enough to make his coaching record look better than it really is and he could do the same next year without blinking or thinking he should have done better.

We finished the year 4-1 with a new quarterback and a pretty fiesty defense. I don't think anyone thinks we will be 8-8 next year or was happy with the season as a whole. There is also no evidence that Fox won't have another great season where we go deep in the playoffs.

With all that said, I would be fine letting Fox go and bringing in someone new. I understand if they let him play out his contract and then move on. I am not in favor or extending him based on his body of work to present.

And for the record, I am the main person who for years has railed at the whole "shoot for 3-1 every quarter" as a goal rather than winning every game each week. I just see folks like you complain as if the whole fan base is happy with what Fox has done and that is not the feel I get at all. This thread was not even about Fox but how one deluded fan thinks that the Giants and Coughlin are the model we want to emulate. My arguments have been focused on saying I disagree and am not a big fan of the Giants or Coughlin.

You guys do know that just because we get average seasons doesnt mean were content with it? I highly doubt anybody in this organisation is happy/okay with missing the playoffs.

What did the Giants do in that interview that makes it so much better? Because they complain to the media? What good does that do? Just because you don't hear Fox and others be angry or dissapointed doesnt mean they don't.

Actualy most of them who are complaining don't. Since their MO is to rail and complain all the time they admire coaches and players who do the same. They don't understand that a lot of effective people solve problems behind closed doors instead of airing it in the papers. They also don't understand that after the horrendous collapse the Giants had this year, Coughlin saying what he said was to keep his job. It wasn't the 8-8 that was the problem but that after going 5-0 to start the season and everyone talking about them going to the playoffs, they totally collapsed the last half the season. They didn't even remain competitive. Just look at our game as an example. We smoked them.

^^ This part I agree with.

Okay. I take responsibility. Feel better?

I didn't think so.

:smilielol5: This has to be the funniest thing said in this thread. No, it's creating a rift with people like you & RB and that may not be a bad thing. :D

:iagree:

Boy, you guys are so naive. Acting and sounding like spoiled 10 year olds too use to seeing the game of football through the eyes of their latest Madden game. Even the big boy from New Jersey. RB, I thought you gave up on this team or at least this MB anyway? What changed your mind? The pounding the NYG took at the end of the season? Did you go post the same poo on the Vikings' MB's?

We are 15 years old. We're a teenager to most of the league, lol. Mr. Richardson has fielded a damn good team most of those years. I'm proud to be a Panther fan and totally support the team. I am proud that they do not weep in the streets, that our players & coaches are proud men who do accept responsibility and always work to get better and always act professionally.

I am glad that Jerry Richardson is not acting like Bob Johnson.

Yes sir, you are correct. I'm glad I'm not part of their families or one of their coworkers. :(
