Boy could we use Brandon Marshall...

Yeah just like Moore wasn't playing because Jake was better. Fox is a stubborn jackass. Thats all that can be said. I have said it all year I think DJ will become a solid #2 in this league. Just watch.

that's fine i'll hold out hope for "will become" too...

but to put him in the same conversation as sidney rice is silly if you ask me.

You are correct sir. I'll take production over potential any day of the week. I really think that Rice owes his new found success to Favre though. He has been talking him up since he got there. If your QB keeps telling you that they can't stop you, you may start to believe it. Confidence is a powerful thing my friend.

When did Moose decline as a player?

Was it last year, when he had nearly 1,000 yards in a run-first offense? Or was it this year, when even the great Steve Smith didn't eclipse 1,000 yards?

I don't think Moose has declined as a player (or at least no more than is expected with age), nor do I think he's been "given" his roster spot. If you're going to use the argument that Jarrett improved with a change of quarterback, then you've got to concede that Moose did and probably will going into next year.

Moose has been dropping balls and looked slow all year long we have all been saying it....

just b/c fox has made errors with personel in the past doesnt mean jarrett is better than moose. that's like saying that every back up on the team should be playing over the starter - bad logic.

what has DJ done????? zip.

moose has looked much better than Dwayne Jarrett this year and last year. you are obviously biased toward DJ for some reason.

I'm not biased towards anyone I'm just smart enough to realize the kid hasn't been given a fair chance to make a difference so I think its absurd to pass judgement on him....

so when is it safe to pass judgement on a player? after three years of training camps and preseasons and regular seasons?

maybe he can be something different in a few years but up til now he's worse than moose and sidney rice.

You pass judgment when you don't see improvement. I have seen him improve every year. And this yes I do think he could have been just as good as Moose this year. I have a feeling that Moose is gone after this year and Jarret or a FA will be the #2.

Given the opportunity Jarrett will develop into a solid number 2 as long as Jake is not starting.

Improve how? He's got 1 TD in three years, coming against the Saints playing in "I don't really care/don't get hurt" mode. His yardage is negligible. He's managed to get I think 3 starts and 1 TD in 3 years.

Stats:

2007: 6 catches for 73 yards and one tackle.

2008: 10 receptions for 119 yards. 1 start.

2009: 17 receptions for 196 yards. 2 starts.

I guess the positive to that is he's improving and by 2017 should be up near 14 games started and 1500 yards with 6 TDs.

If he was tearing it up in practice, Fox would play him more. As much as I want the guy gone, he's not stupid or blind. The only reasoning behind the HURRRR FOX HATES ROOKS is that he sat Williams behind Foster one year too long, when Williams looked nothing like he does today.

Props to the guy for his first TD in the NFL and for an AMAZING one handed catch. He'll probably be back next year because he's really cheap. But unless the guy simply explodes next season, I hope we let him go to another team so they can continue developing him.

Jarrett is not a Rookie and Jake over Moore is a better example of his poor depth chart management. Sure he looked bad in practice but when it matters and when he is given a chance he has played well (that could be about either Moore or Jarrett).

Jarrett is a product of really lousy luck. Behind two good vetrans that have been this teams passing game for the better part of a decade. That and we are a run first team that rarely uses 3 wr sets. And look at the QB he had throwing to him. Jarrett has improved both his route runnning and his run blocking (I actually think his blocking is up there with Moose's). Just remember with Moore, more things are possible.

    • I call bullshit. Brady,Manning,Brees and Burrow are all just ball distributors. And the better thier supporting cast and more experience they got the better they got. Thier best attributes were between the ears.  Now I'm not saying Bryce is gonna turn into one of them but what I want is for him. Is to have a solid roster around him and some coaching continuity too see if he takes the next step. Because everything I've seen and read after the benching is that his mental toughness and workethic are what we need in a QB
    • Many criticize our picks in 2024. I believe that most of them were picked because their ceiling is better than those selected before them.  XLs needs to learn how to play in the NFL. Once he gets up to speed he'll be worthy of 32nd pick.  Brooks, showed why we took him in the few games he played. The ACL injury really sucks but he can overcome these setbacks. Remember TD had 3 ACLs and eventually will be in the ring of honor one day.  Wallace will be a solid LB going forward with experience  Sanders, TE is a tough position to play. He a getting valuable playing time and will become a good TE.  Going down the remaining draft pics all seem to have a good upside. They may not be showing much now but they will start showing their worth next season.
    • I think he's shown enough that if a QB fell to us at our pick we'd either draft a defensive player or trade down for more picks.
