Peppers, maybe he will stay?

To me, he is an amazing talent with some good years left. I also know that he is still replaceable...maybe not next year, but if he were to sign a 5-6 year deal and trail off towards the end of it, we'd feel better if we had gone a different direction when we had the chance.

Peppers wants a championship and with the way this team came together at the end of this season, and playing like we were... he'll be back because if we could have made the playoffs with the way our defense was playing and offense not turning over the ball, there isnt a team in the playoffs Carolina couldnt have beaten.

Well if we sign him to a five or six year contract he'll be 35 or 36 and become a free agent... I mean how much longer would he plan on play at that age?

What I mean is the second half of his contract when he's making $12 million/year, we'll wish we hadn't signed the deal in the first place.

I think he might even sign a cap friendly contract. The man just made 17 million in a season and he's already one of the richest players out there. I think something close to the Steve Smith deal is a possibility.

Steve Smith signed a six-year, $43.85 million deal...maybe a bit long for a Peppers deal, but I'd pay him that. I can't imagine he'll take something that low though.

Again we are starting to go on assumption that his play will decline drastically within five years... It could be he plays outstanding for us whereas it would pay off for us... Then again he could fall right off the charts but he's showed no sign of letting up so we cant determine if he will have nothing left at the end of a 5 or six year contract.

I think the best option for the Panthers at this point would be to do the "unthinkable" in NFL standands and offer him a 2 to 3 year contract with everything gaurenteed.

As for trading him for draft picks, if the Panthers could get a trade in which they got the #1 overall and drafted Suh, then I would be happy to have Peppers as a part of that trade. Anything less than that and I agree that you will not find a equal replacement for Peppers talent.

I mean when he's out there on the field it looks like he is enjoying himself. And as we all know Julius is a keep to himself guy. He doesn't look like a guy that wants to leave.

I'm sure it's about Meeks and also maybe the QB. I heard a rumor he wasn't a fan of Delhomme and now that Moore's the QB (possibly) he'll play for him. It is funny to see how he has played better and enjoyed himself more now that Matt is in as QB.

His playing definatly did seem to pick up towards the end when Moore was in there... I mean normally they talk about how hard he played or didnt play, and he showed that he played hard those final games and he's a big factor as to why the rest of the defense was able to step up and shut out some of the best offenses before they played our D!
