Peppers, maybe he will stay?

... and that's why Brown has seen just as many, if not more, snaps this season... as a rookie?

So are you saying that E.Brown is better than C.Johnson??Because he is not.He may have more upside. What I am saying is that when you have too guys like that then why would you break the bank on a 30 year old DE.

I fail? Check your math...Freeney was 27 when he signed that deal, not 30.

lol... You just couldn't imagine Indy extending a top notch DE nearing the end of his career...

Freeney has been about 5/6 the player Pep has, he misses games here and there, and rarely does anything but pass rush...

Pep's a freak of nature physically, and likely trains harder/keeps in shape better than anyone in the league...

I bet he doesn't ask for what he's worth, will sign long term, and will still be the most dominant defensive player in the league, but some of you will still say "what if..."...

Let's worry about winning a championship now and not build on the "what if's" of 3 or 4 years down the road...

Try to imagine how Indy or NE would handle this...no way they give him a long-term maximum deal.

Many people would argue that had NE not let go of Richard Seymour this year their defense would be much better, if you look up to him so much just go root for the Patriots then, the Pats have made their fair share of bad personnel moves with BB at the helm.

They also have 11 draft picks this year...how many do we have?

See what?Him and C.Johnson are not of the same level yet.

No your right Brown is better, he's much more of a pure pass rusher which is what we need on the line and he's faster and has the frame where he can add more muscle without losing speed.....

We're all playing general manager here and looking a few years down the road is a GM's job. If we were able to get him at a reasonable price, that is a completely different story. The object is to not be paying for more than you're getting and I think we have all had questions about Pep's worth at some point or other, so why is that different now?

All I want to see is a fair deal...not just for now, but for the entirety of the contract.

Who cares?

It's been BB's MO for a while now that nobody's job is guaranteed during an offseason... He's also a master of getting the best out of what he has and making names out of no-name players... I could only hope Fox could be that good... but he isn't...

Pep won't bring the value in picks that he's worth in dollars... That's all you have to know about that...

To think otherwise is dreaming...

Draft picks don't mean s*** unless you draft the right players, you might as well not have them if your going to spend them on players like Laurence Maroney and Chad Jackson.....

This I can agree with, except the part about questioning his worth... I've always seen him as a top force in the league on the defensive side of the ball... If we'd have won a couple of Super Bowls, these discussions wouldn't even be happening... but people need a scapegoat, and a quiet/reserved player who chooses to keep to himself instead of play to what fans demand makes an easy target...

We'll get a fair deal, I promise... But the speculation is tiresome and redundant... We've been here before, and I've regurgitated the same things over and over...

Pep ain't going anywhere...

To draft or get a player out of free agents that brings to the table what peppers offers is unlikely... They just arent that many dominating DE in the leauge, they are few and far between... We found one in him and need to do what we can to keep him, of course down the line he wont be as good as he is right now but most of the time they find schemes to keep peppers from making plays, alot of times that being double blocking or a chip block. Even down the line although his production will decline, he also will start seeing more one on ones that would make it seem easier on him

I haven't agreed with those who say he is lazy, over paid, or takes plays off very often either. I mentioned it because I am confused how sooo many people have ridiculed him in the past but now seem to think he is worth tons of money.

To me, he is an amazing talent with some good years left. I also know that he is still replaceable...maybe not next year, but if he were to sign a 5-6 year deal and trail off towards the end of it, we'd feel better if we had gone a different direction when we had the chance.
