Delhomme expects to be with Panthers next season

He would be making too much money for a backup. But he would make far too much money for not being on the team if we cut him. I am excited for Moore to start next season. But if he ends playing terrible or gets injured, I'd feel much more comfortable with Jake on the bench than a rookie 6th rounder or calling up Vinny at the retirement home. And I agree that I don't want Moore to think he's got it all wrapped up, he's played much better under pressure than when he was thrown in there meaninglessly a few years ago and against Philly.

As I said earlier jake will not be a distraction on the team and will support Moore if he starts next year. He is a team player and will accept whatever role he is given.

Will he retire? Of course not, he is a team player but he isn't crazy. He is just the kind of guy we need as our backup. Plus we are paying him anyway. And if Moore gets hurt, he can come in and win a game or two for us.

I would like to see a 3 way battle between moore, Delhomme, and a Rookie or free agent pickup.

With Delhomme two things;

1) Somebody needs to figure out why he sucked this year. If it is his arm after surgery then that can't be fixed and we need to punt. If it is just him sucking then by all means give him a shot to tryout

2) The staff needs to be honest about his performance. He never actually got benched this year did he? Fox is still an NFL caliber coach and i don't mind if we keep him, but make some better decidions this year.

I think the media and fans will make it a distraction because they/we don't trust Fox. Especially, now that he is in a lame duck head coach role and has history with Jake and history being stubborn. Like Happy Panther just posted, there are some questions that NEED to be answered.

I don't think it is possible for the media to create a distraction in the panthers locker room because they isn't enough media that cares about the panthers.

He could do the Panthers a huge favor by retiring but he won't.

I'm not a Jake supporter but who in thier right mind would retire when someone owes you $13 mil? Cut him or keep him they owe him $13 mil. I don't care how much I love my boss or the company I worked for, no way I'm walking away from that much money just for the hell of it.
