I'm so tired of hearing about Wilks. He came from Rivera and you know how that ended. It would have ended the same way cause he's old and stubborn just like all these old heads. He also missed the playoffs when it fell into his lap. Y'all are looking for anything to justify what you're seeing. It's a rebuild. HELLO?

The playoffs didn't fall into his lap.  He had to dig us out of a huge hole that Rhule created and our players were ready to run through a fire for Wilks.  And how tf do we find an offensive-based coach who is more conservative than a fuging defensive coach?🤣

And look how Wilks has the Niners defense looking.  Sometimes the problem isn't everyone else...  maybe the organization here is just fuged up.

He was just ripping into Baker last year right after he lost to the Ravens. He isn’t some damn Tepper puppet because he wants fans to be patient with Young a QB he backed the whole draft process. The person you are quoting isn’t the most reliable source either. People can have different opinions than you without being thrown into some Tepper boot locker category. That’s just not a good take IMO.

Everything is a conspiracy theory. Even Steve Smith, who y’all love but now he’s an corporate mouthpiece on his own personal channel? How can Steve simultaneously an impulsive hothead, and a corp plant?

It gets harder and harder to take some of these people seriously. They are literally contradicting themselves with some of these takes.

This.  And also, love Smitty, but he is an employee, and for much as I respect and love the guy, he never said a sideways word about Tepper or Rhule during the Rhule Era.  He is here for the entirety of every preseason, and he saw and knew the college poo that was taking place while Rhule was here and all he kept doing was pushing the same hype machine that our PR and social media teams push.  He didn't call the organization out for any of the poo he saw that he KNEW was unprofessional.  He essentially protects the brand.  And then as soon as it's safe to admit a mistake bc Tepper deemed it one, then he speaks out about it, just like he did with Rhule.  He's not going to put anything out saying "welp, Panthers Nation, we fuged up.  The coach is horrible and the #1 pick is a bust."  Tepper would have him banned from the facilities for life.

Preach. Smitty is always kicking it with Tepper during the preseason games and during some training camp practices. Of course he's not going to call him out.

Steve Smith, when he was here, was the least relaxed person I have ever seen in my life. He had zero chill. He beat the daylights out of two of his own teammates, and had no problem fighting anyone on the field or off even if the penalty cost us the game. He NEVER relaxed. Now I should relax? The irony is too much.

Him ripping on Baker actually jives with steve being a team mouthpiece because they traded baker right after this

Who loves Steve Smith?I have always respected his skill set on the field, but his character has always been a red flag for many.

I hear him. But now imagine Steve Smith the player playing with a QB that can't effectively throw a ball on an NFL field more than about 10-15 yards. How patient is that gonna look?

We don’t really know whether Bryce can effectively throw the ball down the field, he never attempts them.

    • I'm with you.  Even an extra 3rd would help.  None of the players you listed are elite though.  Sadly there are very few of those in this draft, but there are a lot of good players in the late first and into the second. We need to realize that we can't get all our needs in this year's draft.  We know we need some sort of edge, a safety, and I feel we need to use one of first 4 picks on a CB, preferably 3rd at latest.  And I want to draft an OT in 3rd to learn behind Moton this year. The extra 2nd would be huge.  2 things Bear Hands has noted in other threads, we can get a rusher in the mid rounds of the first, and if a good LT is available at our pick we should be able to get a deal. I'm ok.  If the media takes are close, trading back to around 15 should get us a second, and since our second is near the end of that round, getting one earlier opens up a whole lot of opportunities.  Either way, Canales builds his infrastructure with this draft.  Next year, with all our picks and probably picking somewhere between 10 and 15, we can get real stars.   All of this depends on hitting on picks this year.
    • You got the gist of his main issue. He plays LB or whatever on D, but hates to tackle and contact. That's the summary.  I normally have a wide margin of " Hey vet min/bring him for try out/maybe he changed/etc etc". But he can not be trusted, * but he did just have his "best" season. He's like those RB that refuse to run between the tackles, bounce everything outside...they too are scared of contact. That's like the whole point of NFL, he's able to trick and athlete his way for 5 years, props to him and his agent.  Me personally I view him like virus, I wouldn't want him on film shying away from hitting while the rookies&UDFA are looking for how the Panthers do things. Plus Im the biggest sucker there is about giving former 1st, 2nd, etc another chances. Just not someone who doesn't want to play NFL and fools those with his god given gifts.  ____________________________________________________________   \ Not to add another layer to this, but I feel contact and hitting its the biggest problem for the NFL. I sorta agree with TEs, WRs, and RBs either going out of bounds or falling to the ground to avoid a solid hit(this goes out the window for 1st downs, SB, etc.) Like if a WR caught a deep slant and already gained 17 yards, but here comes a safety with a great angle, Im all for that WR to fall on the ground...... ugh...... But I think the opposite for my defense. I feel this topic is central sun hot and NFL has done a great job in avoiding it. Im surprised NFL is still allowed, I have huge doubts in the future.
    • not sure if carolina picks a WR in this draft, they have some young WR already and will let them develop. Need another vet imo.  I think carolina is going to pass more to the RB's this coming season, look for them to move heaven and earth for Cam Skatteboo.  I really hope they go TE Warren in the 1st. That would add another dynamic to this offense.
