Matt Moore Next Years Starting QB?

Can you tell me who you would rather have as our number one QB going to camp next year? Is there really a free agent QB , or Drafted QB who gives the Panthers a better chance to win games in 2010 ? Is there really a QB who you believe gives us a better chance to win than Moore? What free agent QB has shown to be better than Moore ?

Delhomme? I would just as soon have Mark Brunell, he was as good as Jake Sunday . I would like to have a Jake as the back up next year and draft a QB like McCoy or sombody to coach up next couple of years and see how they devlope. How about your honest opinion ? Matt is only 25 years old,so he is still very young and should continue to improve . John Fox do you still fee Jake gives the Panthers the best chance to win?

I think Matt Moore has earned a shot at starter for next year. No doubt. If the coaches think otherwise (and nothing they might do would be all that surprising) they're idiots. Have no idea about depth at QB besides Jake. I think he's done but maybe he can "cure" himself in offseaon. My view, he's got a combo-head-body problem so the "cure" might not be that easy. Watching him play some this year, he's got the arm strength and sometimes the accuracy but his decision making and mobility were completely off. He's had those issues before and maybe the O Line issues exacerbated but Moore seemed fine in the pocket and has above average mobility which will increase with seasoning. I don't care if Panthers draft somebody or not, I think we're good at QB with Matt and Jake.

I will be satisfied with Matt Moore and whoever the Panthers decide to bring in to compete for the staring QB position. I am impressed with the way he finished this year and his impressive numbers for the season (which include mop-up time in earlier games against Philadelphia and Arizona): Eighty five-of-138 for 1,053 yards and eight touchdowns, two interceptions and a passer rating of 98.5. Moore's only interception in the five games he started came against Tampa Bay – 18 quarters ago.

The large salary due Jake unfortunately will limit the Panthers options when deciding who they keep, when all is said and done.

Matt Moore I think has earned the starting job with his performance at the end of this year... And only got better in my opinion, and can manage the game. Now the only concern is, everyone wants Jake gone, but in he's get experience and knows the playbook, who would we keep? Josh McNown instead? Who hasnt shown alot even though he has gotten chance to prove himself cause of injuries. But I think other than Matt Moore Jake is our best option to keep on the team to compete with the starting job, plus bring in another qb to compete. That could come from free agency, trade, draft whatever either of they would work. I'd say being how Matt Moore supose to be the future then it'd be better to just bring in another proven vet to compete... Cause lets say Moore gets hurt...( God forbid) who comes in Jake? Maybe... maybe he does well... But what if he doesnt and he's having the same performance as he did this year? You have to have another option to turn to.

I think this is kind of a no-brainer. Moore knew he had something to prove when Delhomme "allegedly" broke his finger, and he proved that he is capable of performing successfully against very competent teams, some of which we are now watching in the playoffs. Sure, he's young, but he is showing the confidence, ability, and leadership that the Panthers so desperately need right now. Jake's skill lies in his leadership ability and veteran standing. But in his heyday his success was still limited to being able to connect with Steve Smith, who is a playmaker with or without Jake. I think the team has lost faith in Jake and one cannot argue the surge of new energy that Matt Moore brought to those final games of the season. Hey, Jake will make a good backup and should be pretty happy with his millions sitting on the sidelines. On another note, I really think we need to cut Peppers loose so we have some money left over after paying Jake for draft picks. I know a lot of people would disagree with me on that, but he's only as good as he chooses to be on any given Sunday.

The best solution, in my opinion, is for Moore to start next year, with Jake and possibly McCown as backups (I say possibly because his injury was pretty intense). Remember, McCown was the #2 behind Jake on the depth chart, but didn't get a chance to show anything because of the injury he suffered right off the bat against the Iggles in the opener this past year. Heck, a couple of pundit sites rated McCown as the 5th best QB in the NFC South before last year started. Jake is going to be a very expensive backup unless he and the FO agree to revamp his contract. But the 3 of them (Moore, Jake, and McCown) represent quite a bit of continuity with this team, and are thus familiar with the systems and players. Certainly, some negative aspects can come from that, in sides being taken for one player vice another. But let's see what happens.

I agree LaChance87 about all this hating on Moore. Is he a superstar like Peyton or Favre? Too early to tell. Is he better than Jake at this point? Absolutely. Jake is no Warner or Favre and his time has come and gone. The Panthers are on their way to greatness once again with a crazy good running game and defensive line. All we need now is a great quarterback to bring it all together. And it sure is nice to sit in the stands and listen to people cheering again instead of b****g about Jake (I count myself in that category).
