brown has really improved. he may have been a bit of a project when we drafted him last year due to his size. but if he were in the draft this year, with the skills he has now, then he's a closer to the value of a high first rounder.

i hope he does pan out and it was nice to see him make plays against the run and the pass vs the saints. he shows big time potential, and all accounts say he's a hard worker.

1,000/950 to 542. Value wise we got the wrong end of the deal BUT I think Brown is showing more than a 43rd pick and would be pretty happy if we picked him at 16/17 this year. I think almost all would confess DE would be of paramount importance if Brown were not on the roster, considering Pep and Brayton are both FAs. Even with the QB flux, we may well of ended up picking a DE first regardless.

As it is we have a young (22) and cheap DE who has had an extra year in an NFL system, when in all liklihood we would have picked a DE in the first this year and gotten a more expensive and less developed player.

He has done pretty well considering. In 375 (up until week 16) snaps he has recorded approximately 3 sacks, 5 hits and 13 pressures. Which is decent considering Brayton produced only 2 more sacks, 2 more hits and 10 more pressures in 678 snaps.

Goodson should eventually produce in our system, he has a couple of flashes as well so he should not be completely ignored.

For goodson to ever be worth much, either D-Will or J-Stew will need to leave the team either via Free Agency/Salary Cap or trade.

Not yet. Not that worried about it though. It was known Brown was going to need a redshirt year to bulk up some if he went in as a 4-3 DE.

He had a pretty good first season and has been improving.

Goodson is the opposite. Looks like he's regressing. Wondering if it's because he went from the hype of TC/Preseason, fumbled a few times and got replaced by Sutton. I really wish we'd throw him in the slot a few times, just to see.

Long term, it'll be a wash. I think Brown will be pretty good, but you'll always have people questioning the pick, even if the guy turns into a monster, because WHAT IF WE HAD DRAFTED ______ INSTEAD

Yes. Especially considering we are only paying second round money. However most people here have been roasting Hurney and Fox the entire year so you will be hard pressed to get them to say they may have done something right. Give it some time and then everyone will say they supported the decision from the beginning.

waiting till after the draft to see what could have been before passing judgement.

the $$$ of brown and goodson compared to the 17th pick is likely less, and that means more $$$ to use on FA, or resigning people.

my concern is that this draft seams to be absolutely loaded in a few positions we could use help in: WR, DT, and even DE. now there is no way of knowing how any draft pick in this years draft is going to pan out, but from a #s and college production standpoint there are a few guys i would love to have over brown. anyone we could have taken could have turned into a major star or bust. its just the nature of the draft.

now the extra year that brown has may be a blessing and equate to him producing better next year than any rookie, but idk if he has the potential some of the DEs or WRs have in this class. brown likely will be a good to very good pass rusher, and decient against the run, but there are atleast 2-3 DEs that could likely be drafted around the 15-20 spots that have the frame and athletisism to be great at both (hardy, jpp, morgan).

brown will almost certainly be better in 2010 than any DL we could draft next year, who is not named suh or mccoy. if we are in win it all now mode then thats a great thing. if not, it could backfire over the long haul.
